He stayed when all the others bailed on the team after conehead got the boot and now he is staying long enough to play in the bowl game. True as it gets VFL, I wish the absolute best for this young man!!!
Showing his Coaches a bit of gratitude!

Interesting thought. Along with Darnell, Hyatt and Tillman ‘s going pro note messages on social media. Not a one thank or mention the previous staff.

I like the Saints also 😂 I went to one game.. their fans are a very interesting hodgepodge and generally friendly.. I usually just watch some Vols in the NFL but that’s about it
Wouldn't be surprised to see the Thumbtacks draft Hooker in the 2nd round if he is still available. They want that new palace in Nashville and they need the support of the Vol fanbase to not look so foolish.

Thanks for everything Darnell. I can remember being at a game and I saw you during a VOL walk while you were being recruited. You were riding on one of the golf carts that they bring recruits to the stadium in, You got off the cart and stood up and I remember seeing this kid with massive hair, but an even more massive physique. Glad you stayed. Best of luck in the bowl game and your career!!

You know what? It's great that Darnell is playing, but are you seriously going to call Hyatt, or any other kid that busted their ass over the last three years to help bring this program back to relevance and now have a lifelong goal in front of them a "non-team player with no balls" because they won't play in what is essentially an exhibition game?
Really? An exhibition game? Weren't you lamenting the fact that some see these games as meaningless and glorified exhibition games? Come on man!

Don’t understand how you can manhandle everyone in the SEC and not allow a sack all year and not be considered the top offensive lineman in the draft. Kiper moving him out of his top 10 at tackle is insane!! Someone will get a steal if his draft stock is really 2nd round
kiper hasn't been accurate for about 10 years. He has Kentucky's trash QB as top 4 overall pick still haha.

Bull$hit! Its more than an "exhibition game". Its a chance to win a historically prestigious bowl! Its a chance to finish with an 11 win season! Its also a chance to finish ranked in the top 5! ALL of these do not happen to Tennessee very often and all are beneficial to the program, to the other players, and to the fans! You can feel however you want to feel about these players quitting on their team but dont purposely try to diminish the significance of this bowl game to fit your narrative.

Up until about 6 or 7 years ago this was barely even a discussion. It was unthinkable for players to lay out of their bowl games. Players have been earning millions in the NFL for quite a long time now and this was always a risk. Why has this just recently been a thing? I'll tell you why! What's changed is our societal culture and what we put an importance on. Apparently now, narcissism is the law of the land and protecting "the bag" is the end all be all priority. Its "Me! Me! Me! and screw everyone and everything else it affects"! If you are accepting of this, more power to you but it will not stop here. Players will continue to move the cheese. Next you will start seeing players shutting down their seasons once their team is knocked out of playoff contention. Then you will see players sitting out their entire junior or senior seasons for fear of injury.

Last time I checked, football is supposed to be a TEAM sport and if youre too selfish to see a season through to the end with your brothers, your teammates, then you never bought into that concept to begin with!

Mr. Wright, in my mind, you just became a Vol legend. We appreciate you putting on the orange and white one more time. Let’s send Dabo and the tigers back home with their tales between their legs. Go Vols.

Not at all meaningless, but 'glorified exhibition game' captures it. Profitable for the schools, great for the coaches, a chance for young guys to play and seniors to strap on the pads one last time, and a fun trip for fans. Win-win-win-win.

Whatever way you feel is your business, but to call a kid like Hyatt "selfish" and "non-team player with no balls" after what he's meant to the program and school is pathetic, and is an incredibly selfish way for any fan to think.

He's voluntarily refusing to help his team win an important bowl game for fear of getting hurt. In this particular instance, yes he's being
selfish and no I don't agree with it. You finish what you start!

Uh, he did. The season ended in Nashville. The bowl game is reward for a successful season, and is important for exposure and revenue, and giving the coaches a chance to see recruits in practices and young guys in the game.

The only selfish ones are fans like you who expect a kid who worked hard and is preparing for his future to do something you would never in a million years advise your own kid to do unless you were a complete fool.

Let’s see:
Play the game and get hurt…potentially lose millions of dollars.
Don’t play the game and be guaranteed millions of dollars.
It’s an easy choice. It’s easy for you to make these decisions because it isn’t YOUR millions of dollars at risk.
