How long until you feel Dave Hart doesn't know what he's doing?

This coming Friday? Next Monday? By December 15th? By December 31st?

If i had to bet, i'd say the next Tennessee coach will be hired within the next two weeks.. They really can't afford to let it run way into December..

Until a second-tier (or worse) coach is announced as the next head coach at The University of Tennessee.

He needs to hit a home run with this hire. I'd give em to mid January as long as he gets it.

IMO it wont take near that long. Dec 18th at the latest.

May depend on if the coach he is going after has a bowl game or not. If his "choice" is not going to a bowl game, do we really want that "choice"?

Most bowl games except BCS games are not over till mid to late December.

my thoughts exactly, this could take awhile, we'll see. All of the good coaches are in bowl games right now

If a coach is hired from another school, he usually doesn't coach that teams bowl game.

It's not the timing, but the results that will be telling. Bowl games or conference championships could have a bearing on the timing. We don't want a quick hire over the best hire.

If he panicked with a fast hire, I'd be concerned.

His composure is evidence of his experience.

The fact that you HAVEN'T heard anything from Hart means that he DOES know what he's doing.

I'm not a Hart fan. But he's playing the game and doing what he's supposed to be doing. He won't mess this up.

it seems the longer this goes on, the more likely it will be another bad hire.

Hart has done nothing wrong to date. A hire is not likely until most schools complete their season. I have been a Vol fan for over 60 years and have watched several hires during that time. Seems we get turned down 3,4,5 times before we end up with a less than desired hire. This hire may well be the most important in the schools history as at least 5 or 6 of the best coaches in college football call the SEC home. Pray that Hart does a good job with this hire because if we do not get a top notch coach, good recruiter, we will languish as a mid pack or lower SEC program for the foreseeable period.

Hart will have little to no say in who the next coach is. He is a figurehead.

Not entirely; Dave Hart will be the one who interviews and sells the program to the next coach. Boosters-Private Donors will have their influence in the process, but in the end, Dave Hart will be the one making the final decision.

If we have a coach in the next 2 weeks then it better be Gruden, or we may have hired a 2nd tier Head Coach or up-coming coordinator, which this program doesn't need right now. If we have a coach by the 1st week in January then, in my opinion, Hart will have hired a proven head football coach. Go Vols!

I have a feeling that Dave Hart isn't calling the shots here. The donors are gonna have the say so

For what it's worth, I can tell you the only influence he will have is sliding the contract across the table and having the selected candidate sign it.

I truly believe that the hire needs to occur before the SECCG. Reason -- recruiting. There is no way that waiting longer and not taking advantage of this period 25 Nov 12 thru 16 Dec 2012...... 17 Dec to 4 Jan is dead period......we have an advantage to step it up....get ahead of this and establish some new relationships.

I know Hart knows this......

A new coach knows this and needs a staff committed to being on board......we can't recruit without having both......we need to recruit it is obvious lets take advantage of it and get a head start......

Exactly! We see what happened when Hamilton panicked with the last hire! Thank goodness he's not still here to whiff again!
