Dave Hart knows what he's doing?

I do believe Hart has very little to do with the hire. He is a puppet and the boosters are the puppet masters. Also, they most likely already have a coach in play. Otherwise, some leaks of interviews or contacts would have gotton out by now.

Refusal to share the details of the process with impatient fans is NOT a sign that he does not know what he's doing.

I don't trust Dave hart are Jimmy cheek. I hope Jimmy haslam and peyton are picking the coach. Don't trust a former gator in cheek and hart a former Bamer.

It could easily run until the bowl games are over or even the NFL playoff. Relax and have a beer.

That is not the way most hires are done and would be a big mistake. Ideally, someone would be hired before the December recruiting quiet periods. If not, you definitely want the HC and most of the staff in place by the time recruiting opens up in January.

Right. Because they want to end their careers by tanking a rival program.... <sarcasm>

Assuming you are or was a student... did you trust any of your teachers? Most probably went to a different school than they were teaching at. Did you doubt their sincerity when supporting your school's athletic teams?

That may be your stance now and I agree with you. My question was about how and when this feeling changes. Come 12/31/12 with no hire or no mention of a hire, you will still feel this way?

Gene Chizik is available. I bet we can get him cheap. LOL!

many, many, many fans will never go to another game if this happens. I would also further believe the conspiracy theories about taking and holding down the program by our rivals...........

If they hire Al Golden than we will know. He shouldn't even be mentioned losing record.

Some fans are WAY too impatient.

The secretive nature of the process aggravates these impatient, often immature, fans.

Not knowing for some irrational reason causes them to question whether those actually doing the work know what they're doing.

Maybe they don't know what they're doing... but the fact that impatient fans want to know more and are not allowed to know more... is NOT evidence.

Maybe these fans assumed the process was further along before the firing. I think Hart should have done alot of preliminary work. OTOH, I think DD should have been fired after USCe so I am probably not thinking right in line with Hart. As it is, Hart must be comfortable with where things are since he is not using a consultant.

His job and career are on the line so I can only assume that he's a little more vested in this outcome than you are.

Not saying I don't agree with you. My question is about when do YOU start to have doubts or concerns? Come December 31 and no hire or still no mention of anything, will you still feel this way?

I would rather wait and make the right hire than rush to make a bad hire. That said, a hire needs to be made before the December quiet period. If not, IMO that would indicate that it was a mistake not to use a consultant. But like someone said, Hart is not pulling all the strings with this. Those with the ca$h will have a big say and could veto anyone he offers.

I take some solace in the fact that Manning will probably have to bless Hart's choice.

If i had to bet, i'd say the next Tennessee coach will be hired within the next two weeks.. They really can't afford to let it run way into December..

I watched the t.v. show yesterday with Chaney and Bob K. Bob K. said he thought the new coach would be named around the second week of December.
Whomever the new coach is, I will disappointed if it is not Gruden, Cowher, Stoops or Strong. Any of those 4 would be considered homerun hires. Other than those 4, we will have a long road back to being relevant again.

I'm sure he's just waiting to see if the Mayans were right. No use in making any controversial moves until he sees whether the world is going to end.

Mullen would be a very good hire. He has done well at MSU... Imagine what he would do with UT's resources.

Patterson would be a very good hire as well. Even this year, TCU was more competitive than by rights they should have been based on talent. They were first in the B12 in total D and 2nd in scoring D. If he kept Chaney and brought his D philosophy... it could get really good.

Peterson could be good but I have always been a little half hearted on him. Winning 3 competitive games per year... if that... and playing 9 or 10 every year are completely different levels of coaching.

I am curious why anyone thinks Stoops would leave OU or be successful in the SEC if he did. He has a niche. That niche includes being no worse than the 2nd choice of colleges for most of the stud recruits in Texas. The other part of that is having a top heavy conference to play in. Based on talent, he should not lose to K-State or be dominated at home by ND.

Does anyone seriously believe Cowher has any intentions of coaching college football?

IMO Gruden is more of a serious possibility than most believe. He apparently said no to Arkansas. He has not yet said no to UT. Hart would lose my confidence if he didn't at least ask him.
