Dave Hart knows what he's doing?

Dave's not as quick on the trigger as Mike Hamilton. Probably a good thing.
Nor did he resort to a search committee (an unnecessary expense).
Only time will tell how that works out.

I agree with you but I think not hiring a search firm has little to do with expense. I think it's evidence that Hart already has a strategic approach and a capable network.

We need to get somebody in here in the next couple of weeks. We have recruiting to get done and we really need a lot more four star players in the next class. We could use a five star WR or another JC WR that is ready to play right now.

How would Strong constitute a homerun hire? He would be better than CDD imo, but not my idea of a homerun.

Strong would be solid but a little shine has been knocked off him with the two bad losses this year......

He recruits Florida well though and that is the reason he is having success winning at Louisville. He takes the kids that the big three recruit in Florida that don't qualify. Just like WVU.

SEC guy with head coaching experience now. Lots of success as SEC defensive coordinator. But remember UF is and was one of the dirtiest programs with multiple allegations of illegal recruiting and NUMEROUS player arrest annually that get completely swept under the rug. Does Strong have anything to do with that? Who knows? Hope not.......

Also, if we hire him, we cant let him bring Hurtt with him. Not to suggest he's guilty, just waaaay too much controversy around him now. Which we don't need and can't afford.

Strong can coach. He is a defensive guy who could pair his skill with Chaney's. He recruits FL well and can capitalize on what this staff has built there. His race could be a positive factor in helping UT overcome out of state recruiting challenges. There is no question he improved L'ville quickly. Remember Kragthorpe was considered a sure bet coming from Tulsa.

The scenario at UT is somewhat similar in that a mid-major guy disappointed but laid a decent foundation to take off from.

it seems the longer this goes on, the more likely it will be another bad hire.

Don't believe this is the case. Of all the coaches on the lists that have been proposed for UT's HC position, most everyone is at a school that is going to participate in a bowl game. Only Gruden, Tressell, Patrino and Golden are not going to be tied up in a bowl game. Patterson, Peterson, Strong, Mullen, Marrone, Jones, Fisher, Briles, Gundy, Stoops, Tubberville, Mora and Mendenhall's teams will be in bowls. Some of the potential candidates are on pro rosters and wouldn't be available until the end of the season, e.g. Del Rio, Morris, Biasacci, Capers etc.

Charlie Strong? Eww!

It's Franklin, Gruden, Patterson, or bust!

Franklin who? If it's the one in the middle part of Tennessee, no thanks! He shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Gruden and Patterson. Franklin beat only the teams he was supposed to and they all ended up with losing records. ALL TEAMS FRANKLIN BEAT ENDED UP WITH LOSING RECORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was supposed to beat Tennessee? Since when?

And Ole Miss does not have a losing record.

Besides winning games we were supposed to win, that would be a huge improvement. We would 8-4 right now.

usually coaches are hired before their respective bowl games!!!!! At that moment it is their choice and their current schools choice if they coach the bowl game!!! They usually don't coach the bowl game because life has gone on.........

In about 3 seasons from now, if our new coach has combined single digit SEC wins. I will call Dave Hart a failure. Until then, it seems absurd to even worry about.

I want the best coach we can get. I don't care if he coached at Vandy, Kentucky, Alabama, or even Florida. I want the best coach.

I would love to see Spurrier come home. Anyone who can win, I'm down.

When Al Golden either a.) turns Miami into a contender or b.) brings UT out of the ashes it is going to be funny to rehash all these threads and posts about him. Random message board posters that look no deeper than the surface end up creating rock solid opinions on candidates. <sarcasam>

If you talk to any football person, who actually has knowledge about Al Golden's coaching, they will tell you he is an absolute top notch coach. But, yeah, just look at nothing but his record without any context. That is a great recipe for success. I am sure that is how Hart is sorting through resumes. He is whiting out the name at the top and the school that they coached at and making his Top 5 based soley on winning percentage.

Pushed out Pat against her will.............

You have no idea who much credit he actually derserves for his decision regarding the Women's Basketball program. Most AD's in the country would not have the balls to do what he did. They would have just allowed Summit to be placed in front of the world as her disease gets worse and worse. He allowed her to pick her replacement and created a role for her to remain at the school.
