Going to be crazy when Arkansas pays Vitello $2 million. Going to be the first college baseball coach with a 7 figure salary and a crooked number at the front.

If CTV didn't leave for A&M or LSU he surely isn't leaving for Arkansas. By then it the job will be in a rebuilding mode anyway.......:)

Did you just wake up from a month's sleep?

@youcancallmeAl , you may have misinterpreted Franklin's post. I checked and he was referring to an actual post by an Arky fan in the Hogville coaching carousel thread.

I'm amused by Arky fan reactions. Prior to Coach V's tiff with DVH, they all believed he was DVH's successor (whenever DVH retires). After the tiff. he became the enemy (How dare he disrespect DVH, etc). Now, some of them have swung back around to wanting him again.

Like others, I believe the window has passed. Coach V is here now. Even if DVH retires in the next two years (highly doubtful), there is now a $1 million buyout.
We're good for the next five years. Coach V will continue to maintain and elevate our program.

I take it as a high compliment of CTV that their best hope is to sit around and wait for 5 years just to have the chance to pay him $2 mill per

From what I've seen of CTV, he might make Tennessee a better destination job than Arkansas. When DVH retires, Arky will be trying to hire one of CTV's Tennessee assistants.

Tony got his big payday. He’ll never need more than that in Knoxville. He got his assistant pool money. If UT keeps their end of the bargain on upgrades, Tony aint going anywhere…I don’t care who comes calling.

As they say frequently on shark tank - sometimes it pays to be the big fish in a small pond

As of now Arkansas is a better job than A&M. Fan support and player development facilities are much more invested, obviously being in Texas they have quite a lot of potential though but Arkansas gets a lot of Texas recruits as well. Not sure how the proximity to where he's from in Missouri impacts anything.

Definitely seems like he's in it for the long haul at Tennessee - it takes a long time to build a program that sustains itself though. He's young enough to where I'd feel pretty good about the program's direction for the next decade if I'm UT.

Texas recruits can get instate tuition at Arkansas. It ends up being cheaper that A&M.

Does Coach DVH ask permission from all the Texas schools before talking to recruits in Texas? Asking for a friend.
