God bless and be with Blackburn and his family. There is no greater pain and suffering than losing your child. They are forever broken and life will never be the same. Only God can provide them relief and comfort. Just a crushing experience. Wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I can't imagine how I'd cope with something like this. I don't know if I'd have the strength.

You don't have the strength. No one does. It's soul crushing and nothing is ever "right" again. You're a broken human being. There's nothing anyone can say or do that will stop the daily tears. Any and everything will evoke a memory that will have you in complete collapse emotionally no matter where you are or who you're with and many marriages don't survive it. You're completely lost and hollow inside. The only thing that saves you is God's mercy and love. Folks who don't have that relationship to hold on to will be in a really bad place.

This is hard regardless of age of child. But we are a little more tender minded when it is a young'un. Prayers for comfort and peace in the days n months n years to come.

My wife has a coworker whose daughter is in her class. She was sick.
