Just heard it was a power struggle at the top. One person needed to move on and it was the AD....from Gene Henley from the Times Free Press.

Never know what the reason is. None of our business. Just hope that all is well with his health, his family, and thank him for his service to UTK and UTC. He did a great job, and should be regarded as successful.

Football, Men's and Women's basketball conference champs all in the same year is pretty stout.
Nice to have on the ole resume.....

There's no point in staying at UTC if it's not going to help him get his foot in the door for the UTK job.

This news is surprising unless he already has another athletic director post lined up somewhere.

Theory 1. He was asked to resign because of him publicly admitting how he handled his responsibilities at UTC while hoping to receive the AD position at UTK.

Yeah I was thinking something similar. Probably awkward dealing with public about how important UTC is to you. When in reality everyone remembers just a short period of time ago you openly campaigned to get another job. It's hard to sell to coaches to come work for you that you love UTC when they are wondering if you will bounce at first power 5 offer.

You mean the same coaches that would leave UTC in a heartbeat if offered a power 5 HC position?

Please.....

There was no other power 5 offer and I think he quit when he realized there never would be. He's a local product that is simply not known out of the state of TN.

I remember questioning the Blackburn frenzy, saying many people wouldn't even know who he was if he walked up to them. It never made a lick of sense too me.

He hired a bunch of coaches that were great fits a UT-C. I question whether that's worthy of $1,000,000/year salary at UT-K. Hire him as a consultant for $1,000 whenever UT has an opening.

You have the best signature in the history of signatures. Ever.

:) thanks

I remember reading that after the 2012 Florida game and just being stunned at first, but then knew it was signature-worthy when the poster apparently got former NASCAR driver Ted Musgrave mixed up with Will Muschamp.

volomon has a legendary post history. It's well worth taking the time to go back and read his stuff.
