I thought I had read in the paper that they were friends. They live across the state line from each other and just thought it might help.

Any state in the south says: In order to play sports and be eligible you have to turn 19 after August 1st I believe..So if he was already older than 18 he wouldnt be able to play this coming year..He is 18, I know this for a fact, however he does turn 19 after the cut off date..

Any news on how Jones did at the scrimmage??

Any news on how Jones did at the scrimmage??

He seemed to have a good day from reports. A couple of long TD runs. I am not sure how much action he got though. SP won the scrimmage something like 6-1 so it wasn't like he was needed for the whole thing. I wish I could tell you how he did on Defense as well but I didn't get to go and am only relying on reports to me after the scrimmage.

David is the kind of kid everyone would be glad to have as a part of their team. Aside from his athletic abilities he is a good student which can help with APR. He doesn't get into trouble, there will not be any negative publicity because of him. He is a yes sir, no sir kind of guy, very respectful. From the few times I have talked to his dad he seems to come from a good family with good raising. I hope that UT offers him soon.

Still no offer? I wish they would lock this guy down. I have a feeling he will be a much higher rated prospect after his senior season is complete.

i have also saw the jones kid play a few times including in the championship. he was an pretty impressive player but i dont know about university of tennessee good, i would guess that schools like memphis or mtsu are somewhat interested in him. i thought the best one on the team this past season was the robinson kid. i'm basing my opinion on the games that i saw. has he signed anywhere?

David's visit with coach Fulmer was very fruitful. He got to meet with Fulmer and coach Caldwell. He got to meet The chief and coach Slade as well.Invitined to camp this weekend to workout and get a closer view from all the Vol coaches.Robinson signed with TSU.I'm thankful the offers David's gotten so far have been all major college.Runningback is what he's being recruited by Alabama,Auburn,Miss State,Vandy,North Carolina etc.

No Bama, nor Auburn has offered yet.Haven't camped there yet.But both are very serious about David and his skills.Maybe he just might have to just keep on doing what he's been doing so far.No doubt his talent is unlimited. With no clearinghouse problems. Thanks for all of the support so far.David's hard work will pay-off in the end. This should be a great and fun senior season. With the great team and fans in The Pitt.

Here's the deal with Jones...if UT offers it'll be last second like Eddie Moore. Look for Jones to got to Vandy or MTSU.

As far as South Pittsburg as a whole...until the teachers, staff & parents push they're students to excell in the classroom they will continue to be ignored by major D1 schools. It's hard enough for a Single A program to get recognition but the athlete's better have the grades to back it up. Robinson could have written his ticket almost anywhere. He could have gone to MTSU and started from day one, possibly even UT as a linebacker but grades. And MTSU has the best APR in the state not to mention the largest student body. Too bad because that program will break through one day. And eventually these in state kids that Fulmer passes up because maybe they're not as highly touted as that 3 star from another state will start going there. The staff they have in place is top notch.

You my friend have no idea what you are talking about!! Robinson had the grades, just wasnt D-1 material...David Jones from what I have been told from everyone in the Chattanooga area has like a 3.9...You must be one of those idiots from down the road down there in the valley that hate SP cause they are the best in the valley these days..

Well first of all i think it's great David's dad is posting here and personally I'd like to see the kid in orange. It's certainly an interesting process to see families and kids go through the recruiting process.

Your wrong on Robinson...no disrespect to him by any means but he did not have the grades. And had he, he'd would have been a Vol. He was by far the most looked at prospect at the State Championship. Also sorry to bust your bubble but I graduated from South Pittsburg. The 2 best players to ever come out of that High School were Jimmy Wigfall and Bo Hayden. Had Wigfall been a player in today's times he'd have been the next David Palmer. Hayden was a monster, played for Louisville but every school in the south wanted him...again he just didn't have the grades. Majors who could bend the rules with the best of them wanted Hayden bad but he couldn't get him in. If I'm not mistaken David Hale is coaching again at SP, he played there and signed with Vandy and had a nice career as a noseguard. Ask David how incredible those players were. Most years SP could produce a D1 player but it's always been the grades that hold them back. Sorry but step one is starting at home, then the teachers and then the staff making sure they're kids have the grades. Historically that's just never happened. Kids get taken care of and well as much as I hate it, there's alot of riff raff in that town. If there's ever been a more cliched Friday Night Lights football town than South Pittsburg. I'd like to know.

Spider...best of luck to David, I hope he's a Vol.

Being a parent I can tell you that you have to push your kids to work in school. I see people blaming schools and the teachers, but the responsibility goes back to the parents....If the child doesn't have parents that are worth a flip then a teacher should step up and help the kids. South Pitt is a good school. I know several people who attended it and are promient figures in the community they live in. By the way I didn't go there.
