David Shaw would be a dynamite hire. Unfortunately, Stanford is his alma mater and he won't be coaching anywhere else for a long time.

Would be a great hire. Don't see him leaving but who knows. Maybe he'll feel that trying to win a NC at Stanford will be much more difficult than at an SEC schoo and want to leave.

Beat me to it, He is a Stanford alum...He is a great young coach but I don't see him leaving there to come to UT...He should get a nice extension and raise after this season.

Well, the "alum" is a big part of that.

Would you turn down a 3 million dollar raise, the chance to coach in the best conference in the country with some of the best facilities anywhere in front of 100,000 fans just stay at your alma mater?

agreed. He may love his alma mater but his alma mater doesn't love football like he probably does.

He's an impressive guy and would be a good choice, but no way he leaves Stanford now. Gruden.

The top is what you make it. Shaw may have everything he would ever want at Stanford.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy if he came here.

Standford alum
West coast guy
No ties to this region (that I know of)

Ain't happening....

Money could say differently. Stanford is cheap and dont pay coach's well. We could offer him a very nice salary, not to mention cost of living and no state tax. Being his Alma Mater would be the only advantage, albeit a big one. But Gruden is our guy so its irrelevant I hope.

Stanford plays good hard nosed football and proved they can play against offenses with speed. This would be a home run hire imo. Don't think it will happen but it would be nice.

I really like his brand of football! Hard nosed, run it down your throat, pass when necessary offense! Smart, tough, physical defense! Plus despite enormous academic standards, the guy recruits very well! I cannot understand why his name hasn't come up more!

he's not leaving Stanford...

I like how Shaw has coached the past two seasons. He can coach. However, his players are still Harbaugh's players. Do we know for sure that he is a top notch recruiter? Just curious. Not doubting the man, I just want to bring this point up. I'd really like to see him do it for 4-5 years before taking a chance on him with that kind of money.
