I’ve seen a lot of trash talk from UGA fans the past few days, from people on Facebook to Uncle Lou. It started before this weekend, but it’s really picked up since beating ‘Bama. We are in their heads, big time.

It’s interesting because there are also Dawg fans who are rejoicing to see Bama go down. I think the paradox can be explained this way:

They’ve been on the cusp for 3-5 years and finally got over the hump in last year’s National Championship Game. Now they’re expecting to be the new king of the mountain when the Tide “rolls” out. They likely see our win as a harbinger of Alabama’s impending downfall.

They’re talking trash at us, though, because they’re scared. Our win Saturday may prove to be a harbinger of Bama’s downfall and it may not, but it is most certainly a sign that UT is back. Heupel has done in a year and a half with one full recruiting class what it took Kirby 5 years and multiple top 5 classes to do.

Suddenly their heir apparent status is in question. The writing is on the wall: they will not, in fact, be the “next Bama.” They will, going forward, have to scrap and claw for every shot at the SEC and National Championship, and they better get us this year, because it won’t get any easier.

Know this: if we beat UGA on November 5, the meltdown will be absolutely epic. I think they will take it even worse than the Alabama fanbase has, because Alabama has had their day (read: decade) in the sun. In the minds of UGA’s fans, this is supposed to be their moment. If we beat them, it will mean that at best, they are going to have to share the spotlight; at worst, UT is on the way to putting them back in the position of little brother in the East.

I hope they enjoyed it last year.

Yeah, where’s the proof/evidence?
I don't have the time right now per say to go find the evidence I have personally seen, but I can pull some quotes I remember real quick.

"Tennessee is ovverrated, they barely beat mediocre Alabama, Pitt, and Florida teams, Dawgs by two touchdowns"

"I guess the AP pollsters haven't seen Tennessee's defense. Not sure why they think they're number 3"

"We will torch Tennessee's defense and win by three scores or more, because we're simply the better team"

"Tennessee will lose to Kentucky in 2 weeks, that's the best bet of the season, Kentucky is way better and I am worried about them more than I am UT JR."

This is just me but looking ahead to UGA rushes the season. I’m still enjoying beating Bama, LSU and FL in same season and don’t want it to end. We may or may not beat UGA but we certainly have their attention. At this point we are playing with house money and I like our odds.

I'm looking forward to the Uncle Lou video when Tennessee beats Georgia:DI wonder if he would then include Georgia as one of the YSIO teams:D

Right. You can go to their 247 site too if you dare and there are several threads about "UTk" being overrated or whatever. I want us to be hated again so I'm glad they're paying attention to us now. They won't be able to stop our offense and they'll be big mad at their coaches over it!

A. Who gives a shite?
Block/mute button, probably solved.

B. They're the defending Nat'l Champs.
Their team has been there, done that, earned it. If & when Heupel leads us back into the promised land, I fully expect to talk a whoooooole lotta smack as well. Gotta get there first though.

They are mad about all the attention we are getting. They’ve gotten very little due to their weak 1st half of the schedule. It’s been a long time since that Oregon win. They have the #1 ranking but no one is really talking about them because they haven’t played any meaningful games since week 1.

By the way, the first CFP Poll comes out Nov 1st, and we play UGA on Nov 5th. There’s a good chance we could be #1 in the first CFP Poll, given our record against ranked teams. If we handle Kentucky convincingly (as I expect we will) I feel like we will be #1 when that Poll comes out. We will have 5 wins over ranked teams. Georgia will still only have 1 (Oregon). Ohio State will have 2 at the most. They only have 1 now (Notre Dame), but if they beat Penn State they will have 2… We started this season unranked and worked our way up to #3. Both of the teams above us have been in the top 3 all year. We have the most impressive record hands down, which is what the CFP Committee will base their rankings on. Imagine going into that game with the roles reversed - us being #1 and UGA being #3.

Candidly, if we beat GA this year, I am not sure anyone in CFB will know what to do.

Sure, we are a historic program and all that but we have been down so long that many are too young to remember or have kinda forgotten that. But the idea that UT VOLS rise up in a new coach's 2nd year after the worst dumpster fire in our history and beats both Alabama AND Georgia (supposedly last year being one of their best teams ever). Thats... thats simply not done.

It will also mean that we have beaten 6 ranked teams in a regular season, including the #1 and #3. Talk about SoS!

I just dont think anyone thinks its possible really (except the team and the coaching staff) and if it does happen, it represents an earthquake in CFB because it is not a fluke. It means TN with CJH and this staff is likely to be a perennial playoff team. That is something that NOBODY I can think of has accomplished that fast as a first time P5 coach in modern CFB. Am I missing someone?
