Dawg Fans Talking Smack

Candidly, if we beat GA this year, I am not sure anyone in CFB will know what to do.

Sure, we are a historic program and all that but we have been down so long that many are too young to remember or have kinda forgotten that. But the idea that UT VOLS rise up in a new coach's 2nd year after the worst dumpster fire in our history and beats both Alabama AND Georgia (supposedly last year being one of their best teams ever). Thats... thats simply not done.

It will also mean that we have beaten 6 ranked teams in a regular season, including the #1 and #3. Talk about SoS!

I just dont think anyone thinks its possible really (except the team and the coaching staff) and if it does happen, it represents an earthquake in CFB because it is not a fluke. It means TN with CJP and this staff is likely to be a perennial playoff team. That is something that NOBODY I can think of has accomplished that fast as a first time P5 coach in modern CFB. Am I missing someone?
There would be lots of Sports Media articles about an Earthquake in the SEC:cool: You would probably see the return of articles about the NCAA by sports writers who are Anti-Tennessee:rolleyes:

A. Who gives a shite?
Block/mute button, probably solved.

B. They're the defending Nat'l Champs.
Their team has been there, done that, earned it. If & when Heupel leads us back into the promised land, I fully expect to talk a whoooooole lotta smack as well. Gotta get there first though.
Exactly. There's a whole bunch of wailing here against trash talking all the while trash talking. Congrats on the big win.

Right. You can go to their 247 site too if you dare and there are several threads about "UTk" being overrated or whatever. I want us to be hated again so I'm glad they're paying attention to us now. They won't be able to stop our offense and they'll be big mad at their coaches over it!
I want that 90's domination over them to return and watch them live in misery.

They are mad about all the attention we are getting. They’ve gotten very little due to their weak 1st half of the schedule. It’s been a long time since that Oregon win. They have the #1 ranking but no one is really talking about them because they haven’t played any meaningful games since week 1.

By the way, the first CFP Poll comes out Nov 1st, and we play UGA on Nov 5th. There’s a good chance we could be #1 in the first CFP Poll, given our record against ranked teams. If we handle Kentucky convincingly (as I expect we will) I feel like we will be #1 when that Poll comes out. We will have 5 wins over ranked teams. Georgia will still only have 1 (Oregon). Ohio State will have 2 at the most. They only have 1 now (Notre Dame), but if they beat Penn State they will have 2… We started this season unranked and worked our way up to #3. Both of the teams above us have been in the top 3 all year. We have the most impressive record hands down, which is what the CFP Committee will base their rankings on. Imagine going into that game with the roles reversed - us being #1 and UGA being #3.

Man just the meltdown of us being ranked #1 in that first poll would be epic lol

Then imagine we are number one and we lose. You really want to hear the crap from UGA fans then?
Don't understand the obsession with being number 1. Do not want to be number 1. The team may or may not handle that well. All that matters is we are at least #4 to get into the CFP. Really prefer to be either #2 or #3 going into CFP. Only care about being #1 after the championship game.

I’ve seen a lot of trash talk from UGA fans the past few days, from people on Facebook to Uncle Lou. It started before this weekend, but it’s really picked up since beating ‘Bama. We are in their heads, big time.

It’s interesting because there are also Dawg fans who are rejoicing to see Bama go down. I think the paradox can be explained this way:

They’ve been on the cusp for 3-5 years and finally got over the hump in last year’s National Championship Game. Now they’re expecting to be the new king of the mountain when the Tide “rolls” out. They likely see our win as a harbinger of Alabama’s impending downfall.

They’re talking trash at us, though, because they’re scared. Our win Saturday may prove to be a harbinger of Bama’s downfall and it may not, but it is most certainly a sign that UT is back. Heupel has done in a year and a half with one full recruiting class what it took Kirby 5 years and multiple top 5 classes to do.

Suddenly their heir apparent status is in question. The writing is on the wall: they will not, in fact, be the “next Bama.” They will, going forward, have to scrap and claw for every shot at the SEC and National Championship, and they better get us this year, because it won’t get any easier.

Know this: if we beat UGA on November 5, the meltdown will be absolutely epic. I think they will take it even worse than the Alabama fanbase has, because Alabama has had their day (read: decade) in the sun. In the minds of UGA’s fans, this is supposed to be their moment. If we beat them, it will mean that at best, they are going to have to share the spotlight; at worst, UT is on the way to putting them back in the position of little brother in the East.

I hope they enjoyed it last year.

GBO.
I'll let our players do the talking on the field.

Fans are tired of seeing same teams make the playoff. The anybody but Bama thought also applies the Dawgs, to the Buckeyes....we need to beat the Dawgs not just for Vol fans but for all college football fans.

But I would be OK if it was just for Vol fans.;)

Of course they are talking smack. I am delighted to see it.

Remember the condescending pats on the back from our rivals for a "good game" over the last decade? Remember no worry about their game with TN? Remember looking past us to the "real" competition after us?

Talk smack, UGA. I appreciate knowing how much you're thinking about us.

It might be a stretch to include Georgia among teams "always" making the playoffs. They've been in two.

Let them talk. I'm enjoying living rent free in their heads. They're shook, and they should be.

One of more comical things. Georgia still points to that dismantling of Oregon. Great win no one will argue that. However all of us in SEC country see how bad Auburn is and Bo Nix wasnt good enough to continue there and keep his job and yet he is Oregons QB1 for that beat down and he was less than pedestrian. Bulldogs are in for a war in November whether they believe it or not. We ain't Oregon and Hendon Hooker is not Bo Nix.

When Tennessee beats Georgia the Dawgfans will start comparing Kirby Smart to Mark Richt:D

Kirby isn’t that great of a coach, he just played the Saban recruiting game early and got more talent than anyone else. He wins off sheer speed and muscle.

Good coaches aren’t losing to our 3 win 2020 team at halftime with ABSURDLY more talent in year 5. Good coaches aren’t getting outschemed by Mizzou for 3.5 quarters.

Heupel is the definition of a good coach, he makes his team play like they were Top 5 recruiting classes when they weren’t.

You just spoke a ton of truth. Much Respect. If Mizzou has a little more depth and a competent offense, Mizzou wins that game and that should NEVER happen against a #1 team.
