Daytona 500 or Indy 500

And Mario Andretti has won both the Daytona 500 and the F1 Championship. A.J. Foyt won the Daytona 500. Tony won the IRL championship before he switched over to stock cars. I can't think of a single primarily Nascar driver who crossed over and won anything significant in another series.

Would you care to talk about active drivers?:peace2:

Sure! The two time champion Tony Stewart started in the IRL. Jeff Gordon started in the outlaw cars (open wheel). I still can't name a single driver who started out as a Nascar driver and switched over to succeed in open wheel.

Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and J.J. Yeley are others who cut their teeth is USAC. Yeley is a USAC Triple Crown winner, as is Tony Stewart. trust me, those guys aren't in NASCAR because the racing is better. they're in NASCAR because the $$$$ is better, and i will never argue the money is better in IndyCars.

the Allisons and Yarboroughs have raced at the Indy 500, but never amounted to anything. Jeff Andretti and Robby Gordon had minimal (at best) success in IndyCars. Jeff never had the talent and Robby was a moron.

one more note about the Daytona 500. when guys whose lasts names start with Bodine, Cope, and Burton (as in Ward) can win the race, it won't ever compare to the Indy 500.

Burton, and Cope basically were in the right place at the right time.

Earnhardt blew a tire in the last lap, last turn for Cope to win.

Marlin was being a dumb@ss, and got out of his car during a red flag which put Burton up front. Which was also right after Gordon, Jr, Harvick etc.. had wrecked.

But, im not a "huge" IRL fan, but could someone care to tell me what and who Franchitti is, since he just won the Indy 500.

That pretty much sums it up. The $$$ is alot better, not to mention the exposure.

Well! If they are sooo much more talented then 43 cars on the track would not matter now would it????

yeah, 43 cars a 1.5 mile track all going 220+, where a single touch of the wheels can send some hurling into the catch fence. you're right, sounds like a great idea.

If they had the superior talent that you describe then they wouldnt be afraid to do so.

ummm...probably because they're not used to driving busess like the NASCAR boys are, which is esencially what an IROC car is.

the only joke bigger than IROC is the fact that you think it has some relevance in racing.

I do not watch IROC. I get tired of watching the NASCAR boys of so little talent dominate your "gifted" drivers.

i see. i didn't know you were in favor of getting people killed. it's not a matter of being scared. it's a matter of being (spell it with me) S-A-F-E.

Again, if they have all of this talent then what is the problem.

It did not say it had loads of relevance. It is the only series that yearly puts top drivers form all areas of racing together in a common car. What is that little saying? Put the contenders on a level playing field and the cream rises to the top.

are you really this slow?

i'm not going to repeat the same thing over and over again because you don't get it.

a common car that the NASCAR drivers have more experience driving, seeing as how they drive a similar car 36 weeks a year.

yeah, that's fair. talk to me when it's two races in an open wheel car and two races in a stock type car.

besides, you do know that IROC went under right?

fair would be a stock car, indy car, dirt car and a drag car; one race each.

I do not care if it went under. Are you that stupid that you cant read where I said I did not watch it. Go back and check it out you might learn something. Show me some results where you can compare the two types of drivers. I know NASCAR drivers would lose if it were done in F1 cars because that is not what they are used to. I am not idiotic like you and claim that NASCAR drivers have this superior talent like you claim F1 drivers have.
