'20 DC FS Mordecai McDaniel (FL commit)

After watching both guys film there is no comparison between the two athletically... and I'm a fan of Johnson. McDaniel has a higher ceiling than just about any DB in this class IMO.

And I agree with you on OT recruiting. Hard to believe there are no real options out there and the idea of going after NY JUCO's is scary. Sam Pittman watch will be starting come January IMO.
you're late. for several, that watch started in November, 2018. lol.

yep, everybody that's talked about this prospect, both RC and AP on the radio today, has said we got in on him early, and have had him up at the top since hte beginning.

fast, long, physical and a good overall athelete. wondering why his rating is what it is? i don't really care, just a curiousity more than anything.

I think his rating has a chance to jump big-time as the season goes on. He literally has everything you need in an elite DB prospect. The length, the speed and explosion, elite jumping ability...This is the kind of kid Pruitt will turn into something special.

And just look at the schools that have pursued him. He's taken OV's to Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee and Florida already. 3-star talents don't take that many OV's to schools like that this early in the season. This isn't a guy with "claimed" elite offers where most of the schools aren't actually pursuing him. We are winning a legit big-time recruiting battle here.

2 questions...Why is this kid ranked so low, seems like an exceptional athlete and all round good kid, offer list speaks for itself.2)Are we recruiting him as a WR or safety?Just curious I think he be good at both but I’m guessin coaches will bring him in and sort it out from there.I assume safety but being so thin next year at WR could we see a switch?

Edited *Montrell pretty much answered the rating question above thanks...

oh, i totally agree. like i said, the rating thing was just a curiousity.

if htere's one thing i'm not going to quibble over is a DB prospect CJP or CDA want on this team.

Camps. The answer is always camps when a player that is offered by several big time programs has a low star rating. He either didn't attend the camps that the recruiting services wanted him too or the guys evaluating him at the camps suck at evaluations.

This. Just about every team camp he went to he came away with an offer. And I don't think he really hit the combine circuit like all these recruiting sites want kids too.

Pipe dream. He never leaves UGA. I sincerely hope God created other OL coaches.

Hopefully, there will be some OTs that emerge in the fall. But I agree, it looks like we will be woefully short at OT. Every time I read "JUCO OL," I'm haunted by the ghost of Dontavious Blair.

Coleman and Gray could each rush for 1,000 yards this season, and there would still be posters clamoring to get rid of Friend. Warranted or not, Friend is the pariah of this staff. That said, I think the OL will improve, but it won't be the night-and-day difference that some people expect.

I think a large part of the OL recruiting “woes” this year are because of the success we had last season. These kids this year are concerned they will have to sit behind two really great freshmen.

I hear you, but what about UGA? I don't follow them closely, but it seems like they sign 3-4 stud OL every year, which is bound to create a competitive depth chart. Maybe it's just because of their recent success . . . .

Seems like we are having some positive momentum up in DC/Maryland area. Tracy Rocker is either the primary or secondary recruiter on these kids so he must have some good relationships up there.

I think this should be a key area for the Vols to recruit. If a recruit in the metropolitan DC area wants to play in the best conference in college football, UT makes the most geographic sense.

I see we recruiting against Notre Dame where the coach is Terry Joseph.
No. Hah. So this is what it feels like on this side of the argument? Yikes.

If he couldn’t recruit he’d be coaching the AFL-CIO softball team.

This is amazing. How much do recruits pay for these?

Thanks. I don’t charge players. If their coach wants a team schedule graphic or something else team-oriented, I’ll charge for that. I also usually only agree to do free stuff for kids that include UT or are just too high-profile to pass up.

You’re a class act, Geaux_Vols, that’s for sure.
