I wouldn't go as far as to say that! We could be doing better, but the recruiting season isn't over yet, it may get a lot better before it's over.
I could not agree more, "We'll be fine", I'm not one to get overly exercised about a given recruiting class, until the first team meeting-then we actually know who we have. The same applies to the other schools. If we are pursuing a given high school player, there is a good chance other schools are also pursuing the same guy, I never fully count them in or out this early. It always seems to change before it's over. We're in the lead for at least four 4 stars and in the mix for many other solid recruits.. we'll be fine.
I actually like the makeup of this class. We have 9 4 stars and 7 3 stars currently committed.. Of the7 "3 stars" one is the top rated long snapper in the country and we have three Olineman commited that are considered 3 stars (all over 300lbs and they all play with a mean streak that we've been missing for a long time imo) the lineman will probably need to redshirt, but we can afford to do that with who we have coming back next year.
We only took 22 recruits last year. Limit is 25, obviously. 3 of our early enrollees can be assigned to last years class limit because we didn’t fill the class. And then we still have room for 25 in this years class.
Appreciate your honesty. It stings because he's going to a rival. But most analysts that I've read regarding MM say that he's an elite athlete that is raw but has high upside. In other words, with good development, he could become a real player. But I wouldn't expect him to contribute immediately except maybe on special teams as you say here.Came over here to just read history on MM and silently gloat but after watching his tape (color me unimpressed) and know what you guys have on the board you’ll be more than fine. I know the initial sting is annoying but over next 3-4 he won’t be missed.
now unless his senior tape was exceptional all I saw was a fast kid that lacks fb instincts and ball skills but makes up for with his speed. Did UF get a solid sp teams player? Probably. But nothing showed me difference maker DB.
