'24 DC OT Jordan Seaton (Future Portal Entry)

I kind of don't want this drama ... so hoping he picks another school and leaves CO out in the cold. Hilarious.
I wanted him before because he’s a top OL in the class.

I want him now just because of Deion bragging how he turned down 2 mil from UT to come play for him.

It would make him look pretty stupid,, and that’s a win.

So there’s a chance?

Oregon fans seem to think they're in the driver's seat too. I can't give any logic to how this will end.

Most money + top 10 draft pick would make Tennessee the logical choice. This kid doesn't make any sense though.

That said, I still want him!

I thought it would come down to UT and Maryland, with UF remotely third. Last I checked, both UT and Maryland were the only schools that have offered him and his younger brother, which he indicated he wanted to play with. And he lives in Maryland now, Florida before I think. He seems to have a strong family connection and the west coast is a long weekly trip to watch him play unless everyone is coming with him.

People need to cool it on the racist narrative. Many recruits (and sometimes their families) are very impressionable. A lot of coaches have an angle when recruiting. Dabo, Kiffin, and Freeze are all examples of coaches that use tactics that many don't particularly like in recruiting. Deion is no different in that regard. What does he have to sell to top recruits and their families that they can't get better at other schools? He's a black coach that tells these families that he has their best interest at heart as people, and that you can't understand the experience of being a top black athlete unless you've been one yourself. It's an angle. Some people buy it. Some don't, but he has a 5* (Travis Hunter) that trusted him. That helps sell that pitch as well. Seaton drank the kool-aid, then said something in a manner that people have honestly, taken way out of context. Now, many want to call the kid a racist. Don't say "what if a white kid said that?"...... 90% of division 1 head coaches look like them. Nobody is saying they wouldn't want Sammy Brown because his family drank the Dabo kool-aid. In reality, this is no different. Using race, religion, political affiliation etc. is all dirty pool, but it happens all the time because the world is full of weak minded, impressionable individuals. Don't be one of those yourself.

Seatons camp tried to play hard ball and committed to Colorado thinking the other schools will up their offer with a signing day bidding war and instead ended up probably losing money? Some of these kids will find out what these “business decisions” can be humbling.
This is accurate. And he/his team also revealed a picture of character that many programs won't waste time on. Recruiting in the portal era is already hectic and stressful enough. Coaches and programs have to draw a line somewhere with kids like this.

Seaton is tremendously talented and some program is going to be very fortunate to land him. But he's learning he doesn't have the entire college football world wrapped around his finger. He thought the Colorado/Deion move would bring more teams to the table. Instead, it's had the opposite effect.

Mr. Gaslighting Extraordinaire tries so hard to be cool to the kids and feed their angry fratboi feels via the Clay Gullibles crowd

But this time he just completely whiffed with an astounding amount of mental gymnastics. He could have simply said Deion got played and instead tied himself up in a knot of (not-so) strategic cringey signaling nonsense

Whitlock sure does know how to play to his ignorant audience...makes a career at it.
It's really interesting if you see it from the 20,000 foot view Clay has for years. He saw a gullible, easily monetizable, and easy to trigger "read the headline" audience of a certain demographic and took an actual sports personality that was against "politics in sports" into a caricature that only does that to feed his blunt audience.

It's an art form and Clay has taught his study.
