'24 DC OT Jordan Seaton (Future Portal Entry)

The logic was Seaton is a 5star tackle prospect who likely expects a chance to start / play early… from his perspective..

Then from the coaches if Seaton already informed us he’s not coming here, then that could have incentivized the coaches/Spyre to push harder to convince Campbell to come back.

Just a thought I had… now they could be completely unrelated and I hope so…

I hope we land Seaton and if he is as special as some think, he can slot into LG as freshman then next year once Campbell goes pro, Seaton can kick out to LT his sophomore year.
I’d be curious to see Mincey at LG if Seaton could handle RT

How many of these guys actually work out after so much hype? Anytime a recruit needs so much attention, I get suspicious that he’s really all that.
I can’t remember an elite OT prospect who was a bust. The closest thing to that in my mind was dontavius Blair, but he wasn’t an elite prospect. Top rated juco, I think, but not a 5-star truly elite prospect like Seaton, Mauiga, Proctor, or Tunsil

wasn't it Seaton who called out Campbell as one of the reasons he was considering UT? Seaton liked how Campbell played. I wouldn't think Campbell coming back would hurt us in that situation.
This is my concern as well, but there’s a few other possibilities:

1. He knows he can play LG for a year next to Campbell and trust the guy next to him.
2. We’ve discussed moving Mincey inside and playing Seaton at RT for his first year.
3. He wants to redshirt. Seems unlikely, but I guess it’s possible that he doesn’t want the pressure of being a true freshman LT in the SEC

Tennessee is closer to home than Ohio. That has to count for something. And this staff has shown it CAN get a guy to the next level - see Darnell Wright. You have to think the NIL would be acceptable. It will probably be determined by what he values and where he feels most comfortable.
Actually this isn’t 100% true… based on him going to HS at IMG Academy, sure that’s accurate… but he’s originally from Maryland. So that actually could be closer to OSU. Not sure where the bulk of family reside but wanted to add that context.

Regardless I think we have a pretty good chance there is some unknowns at OSU right now.

No one is really talking about UT offering his brother and which other schools may have shown his brother Love and how that might factor in here.

I wonder if OSU and Oregon are chasing his brother?

Well you’re also splitting hairs on distance depending on where in Maryland they live. Columbus is pretty far from Maryland. Within a 1-2 hour margin of driving compared to Knoxville so distance from home is a wash in this scenario. It’s not like Texas to Tennessee versus Texas to Oklahoma

Talked about when Vols offered his brother.

OSU and Oregon have not offered.

I know it was discussed when UT offered Jeremiah but I do t hear anyone talk about it now.

I hope they are showing Jeremiah lots of love and this is the tie breaker if one is needed. His brother being one year behind means he will get a chance to play with him so this could be the Ace in the hole.

I admittedly would do some not very nice things for a commitment here. He’s become the most important recruit in the class imo. Also, I wonder to the extent that Nico is involved in his recruitment. I’d think he has a vested interest in us getting him.

I find it a bit odd that still every time we are after a high-level prospect people always ask “I wonder how much involvement Nico has here?” Not just singling you out. It’s a prevalent thing lol.

I get the point you are trying to make, but it’s not like Nico is trying to peer recruit for his own class anymore. Nico is on campus now. I’m sure he’s probably spending more time learning the playbook and hitting the gym than recruiting every high level prospect we’re in on.
