-RivalsMaryland, Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee are the finalists for the five-star offensive tackle from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy. As Seaton has grown wary of the recruiting process after a very busy few months his decision is now only hours away. The word is that the Vols have made a major late push here and could be the team to beat but after a weekend visit to Ohio State the Buckeyes can’t be counted out either.
So if this guy is 100% NIL motivated we are going to have to bid for him the next 2 years to keep him assuming he comes here.
Word for Vols are the likely pick right now. Looking like it’s us with Ohio St in second.Rivals.com: Rivals Football & Basketball Recruiting - Recruiting Rumor Mill: News keeps coming as signing day looms

And the programs lower than us have the same complaints about us. its why you are seeing Oregon, Bama, and Ohio State all talking about the only reason he would come here is because we are over paying on NIL. Obviously only one school is going to get Seaton, so there are at least three big name schools who are ALL going to miss out here. all will have fans arguing that they lead, and all will be saying their coaches can't close. but you won't be aware of it.I look at their final rankings at the end of the year. But like I said, I'm sure they miss on some kids but in the end they always seem to replace them with equal talent. Meanwhile we seem to be left looking at lower rated kids and then convincing ourselves we're just a year or two away.
That is the way of the CFB world nowadays. You will have a core of players that go to a school because they really want to play for that school, but there will be a group of players that don't care so much for school loyalty. They are looking for development to get to the league and NIL in the meantime. If we can offer both then we will be fine.So if this guy is 100% NIL motivated we are going to have to bid for him the next 2 years to keep him assuming he comes here.
Wasn't blaming the coaches at all, just commenting on what appears to be the reality for us much of the time with these top end recruits. I get that our rivals miss too but, unless I'm missing something, they end up find replacements pretty quickly and we typically struggle to do the same. Maybe that's changing now though. And the programs lower than us have the same complaints about us. its why you are seeing Oregon, Bama, and Ohio State all talking about the only reason he would come here is because we are over paying on NIL. everyone is fighting for the same top talent. obviously no one is getting ALL their first choices. the same "struggles" play out for every school and fan base. If a Bama/Georgia/OSU/Texas miss out on their #1 to another school, their #2 was probably #1 on someone else's board that the other school probably lead for at some time. of course its better to get the higher ranked guys, but its not some unique failing of our coaches to miss out on our #1.
***** gonna get real messy if we have to renegotiate NIL packages every year for any decent recruit. That is the way of the CFB world nowadays. Doesn't seem like it's completely NIL motivated. Schools with deeper pockets (USC, Texas, A&M) would be more involved if that were the case. But if you are torn between multiple teams, NIL will make the difference. So if this guy is 100% NIL motivated we are going to have to bid for him the next 2 years to keep him assuming he comes here.
