'24 DC OT Jordan Seaton (Future Portal Entry)

How about expecting the best and being tough enough to handle the worst?
Right. You should be realistic, but at the end of a recruitment like this, where the prospect has been tight-lipped, and you don't really have much to go on .... there is nothing wrong with a little optimism.

The program won't shut down if he signs somewhere else.

Two true FR on the OL??? Yeah no thanks.
Yessir!!! The idea that true freshmen can’t start in the SEC is a tired argument and most of the data looks at all freshmen and doesn’t isolate elite prospects. There are many examples of true freshmen starting in the SEC and holding their own, even at OL. If Warren is better than Mincey at guard he should play - all this of course assumes we get Seaton… there’s nothing anyone can do to keep him off the field in 2024.

It’s the night before IMG Academy five-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton announces his college decision and it looks like it could go a couple different ways leading into Thursday’s commitment date.

Here is the skinny as Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Oregon, Ohio State and Tennessee battle for the ballyhooed left tackle prospect’s signature.

I’ve written the last two days I like the way it’s trending for the Vols, or mentioned the team leaves seem to be pointing towards Knoxville.I still feel like Tennessee is strong. Several sources feel it will go their way. Seaton has been in contact with head coach Josh Heupel and the Vols here at the end. Two fall visits, Glen Elarbee’s ability to develop Darnell Wrightamong other prominent things has Tennessee in it strong down the stretch.

I could see it going Alabama’s way too. Seaton has been in contact with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide staff at the end. The Crimson Tide were Seaton’s leader coming into the season and it was up to the other programs to change that. The player development, particularly with IMG players is catching his eye.

Updated: Head coach Billy Napier at Florida also got to talk to Seaton at the end. He's been to Florida several times and has a good relationship with those guys.

I get the sense Oregon and Ohio State are fading. I think from those two there’s been more communication with the Ducks over the last day or so than the Buckeyes. Seaton could still even take an official to Eugene after this decision as that official hasn’t been utilized.

Colorado and Maryland make up the other schools in the mix. Was told puncher’s chance around Boulder early this week, and the Terrapins were a late addition to the finalists. Maybe these schools are in better position than I've been hearing.

PLUS is my mastermind scenario one of the freshmen is playing next to our best returning lineman, Spraggins, and the other is playing between Mays and Campbell. What better way to develop youngsters in preparation of our 2025 national title run? Like I said, my logic is infallible!

I know I’m into the bourbon too much already but Mincey might not even start.

LT: Seaton
LG: Spraggins
C: Mays
RG: Warren
RT: Campbell

I’ve been thinking about this for hours so don’t test me. My logic is infallible.
I think Campbell will stay at LT and Seaton at RT. That'll be nice

I like Steve Wiltfong, and all of these recruiting analysts cover their butts .... but Wiltfong does it to an extreme.

Just two days ago, Jordan Seaton amended his choices to a top 5 list and neither Colorado or Maryland were on it. His top 5 teams (in no particular order) were Tennessee, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida and Alabama, but Steve Wiltfong still must mention Colorado and Maryland, anyway. There is butt covering, and then there is just an excessive aversion to going out on a limb. Wiltfong is too often guilty of the latter.

If we lost this guy to Maryland, then Heupel should be fired.

Obviously overreacting there, but that would be pretty embarrassing. However, I still like our chances, but seems like it’s a “who the hell knows.”
