'24 DC OT Jordan Seaton (Future Portal Entry)

On today's VQ pod, they discussed how recruiting rankings don't matter much anymore because of the transfer portal. Gave FSU as an example, FSU finished 20th in recruiting rankings last year, but did great in the portal.
I disagree with that. Last year's ranking was irrelevant this year because few freshman start. But they will matter more next year and even more when that class is juniors.

Florida St was 10-3 last year and returned most of its talents. The transfers were more important for them this year than recruiting, but it's still extremely important for the overall health of the program.

Good grief dude. No I am not counting every high profile recruit we miss as a failure. We are not gonna win all these battles. But there are certain players I have felt like the NIL has failed us. I have only wanted one coach fired and that’s Martinez. I feel like he is holding this team back. Banks is arguable although I don’t really like him.

I mean your point about being selective with resources is understandable but there are teams out there that are pouring tons of resources into getting guys. Freeze at Auburn for example. I mean he is visiting 5* FSU commit KJ Bolden. Why aren’t we visiting these guys? My agenda? My agenda is simply this. I want the best players. I want Spyre and TN to do everything they can to get those players. That’s the agenda. If that’s not your agenda then why be a fan? Don’t you want TN to be the powerhouse college football program? Good grief man.
But you too often make it all about NIL.

There are companies I would not go to work for no matter what the bag was. Kids also favor schools and are just using other schools for the bag. Thinking making every bag bigger will win them is not smart It just inflates market.

If you put Seaton at OG, why would it have to be on the right side? Seems easier to transition to LT eventually AND he’s tight with Campbell…playing next to him for one season could be beneficial.
Yeah it does seem like transitioning from LG to LT would be easier than transitioning from right to left, but honestly I have no idea. When it comes to playing OL, all I have is my imagination.

Exactly. Why move Spraggins from the position he’s played for 4 years to put Seaton at RG for no logical reason?

Imagine addressing a question mark at LG by moving a rock at RG over there…making the new RG a question mark. 🤔

💯 correct.

I was wrong about Spraggins position. Thought he was our LG because of the memory of him driving a guy into the stands on the left side of the field. Since he's RG, I'd go:

LT: Campbell
LG: Seaton
C: Mays
RG: Spraggins
RT: Warren over Mincey (or at least give him a fair opportunity to earn it)

Dont matter unless its selling subscriptions.

A three star with 40 offers in State of Alabubba, is about the same as a four/five in TN with 40 offers. Only difference is visibility/optics. IMO.

That'd be dumb, but nobody is suggesting that unless I confused them by saying Spraggins has been playing LG. My fault. He's been on the right.

I believe VQ meant that rankings would be skewed because a team may only take 20 HS kids and the rest would be transfers, while another team may take 28 HS recruits.

QB - Nico
RB - Samson / Seldon
WR - Wells / Bru / Squirrel / Thornton / Matthews / Everyone else
TE - Staes / Davis
OL: Campbell / Seaton / Mays / Sprag / Mincey

I’m thinking 39ppg, maybe 40. (If everyone returns and we land those guys)

Could be a special year.... would just need to figure out how to fix our secondary.
