I want to say first that I am aware you are paying thousands upon thousands of dollars in buyouts. I also am aware that firing a coach at this point in the season is usually not idea. Even with those things in mind here is why it would be in the best interest of our basketball program to cut ties with coach martin now:

-We have missed the tournament 2 years in a row after being there 6 strait times. Not to mention losing in the first round of the NIT.

- With our play up to this point there is no basketball mind that would tell you Tennessee can continue to play at this level and make the tourney field this season.

- We have IMO the most talented team that we have had on the floor since we went to the elite 8 and it is being wasted. If we change coaches at the end of the season it would take them at least 3 years to get the talent level on the floor back to where it is now.

-By bringing in a new coach we give this team a chance to do something in march. It would not be an easy situation but I am still 100% confident that a coach could make the transition and have our team playing much more consistent and at a higher level pretty quickly.

- Yes I would love to see Bruce Pearl back but at this point I would love to see anyone with a decent track record have a chance with this talent.

You bring up the Elite 8 team but I think you forget how that season started off and when we actually became good

Why post this now? During a game where we are showing great improvement.

This is my point exactly. When a high level team is so inconsistent night in and night out it shows poor coaching. This team is very capable and we all know that. There are going to be times that you don't play well but not as often as martin's teams do.

Did this team magically improve over night? Did they all the sudden realize they could speed up tempo and crash the offensive glass?

No. This is how it should have been when we played them the first time and this is how we should have played last night but we do not have a coach that can prepare us to perform with any consistency at all.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I wonder what it would really take to get Bruce back. And if Hart would really consider it. I myself would absolutely love to see Bruce come back. I never seen more excitement around our BB program when Bruce was here. Thompson Bowling was always packed out.

Is it that he can't coach? Or that he hasn't been able to win on road? Still on CCM but it's not like he's winning games vs FL, UK, Wichita state, Xavier, Missouri, UCONN at home by accident. He has to be better and get his team ready to play on road.

Everything about Martin is boring. His style, his personality, everything. I'm a football fan first but Bruce had me excited about basketball. His style, his personality, everything. Martin hasn't even done a good job keeping Bruce's seat warm. I'm with the Bring Bruce Back crowd. (B to the 3))
