Looks like Dark Brandon kicked the rt wing's butt.
For example, they wanted work requirements for food stamps. Dark Brandon says sure as long as we have exceptions such as veterans. He then got the exceptions expanded so in reality more people will be eligible for food stamps after the legislation than there were before the legislation.
Bonus points in creating a war inside the Repub House membership as the hard right says they will seek McCarthy's removal.
Wonder if they would accept Dem votes in that motion.
Exemptions in general declined (I believe it was from 12% to 8%). Yes, they did add some new categories for exemptions (veterans and recently emancipated foster kids for example). But it’s unclear if this will overall expand or contract the program.
There’s a war inside both parties over this bill. AOC and her homies very openly opposed the bill.
The bill is a win for both sides in that they avoided a shutdown. It’s a loss for everyone in that we went from the 4 trillion dollar range precovid on federal budgets to 6 trillion post covid. I highly doubt you, I, or anyone else could justify the nearly 50% increase in such a short time frame.
The right has a few small victories in there like resuming student loan payments, cuts to the irs, and increasing the work requirements for snap.
Other than what you’ve mentioned above can you name anything the left got out of this?
