Decorated Army surgeon refuses to obey all military orders

Lets be serious, very few people in the history of the world have any attempted to do what the founders did and out of those look at how few actually had success.

A random doctor angry about a birth certificate is laughable.

Its is every persons right. Remember, its the government of the people, by the people, for the people, regardless of what you are told.

Military members check "rights" at the door when they put on the uniform. Its a path that's chosen.

If i had a dollar for every dumb ass officer that gave me an order in my tenure, I would be rich. Sometimes the order made no sense and the person was a complete maroon.

Freedom of speech and other rights don't apply....As an officer, this guy is a disgrace to others that wear the uniform.

If an officer orders you to break the law are you still compelled to follow those orders?

That's awesome. I wish him well in Leavenworth.

The sheer arrogance of that statement is exceeded only by it's absolute ignorance.

Didn't ever look into the UCMJ during your ten years did you??

But independence from the crown is what they were after. If this guy's after that, he's needs to be put under Leavenworth.

You don't know what you are talking about.

He is talking about adhering to the Constitution of the United States of America, plain and simple.

Seems an absurd sword on which to fall. Which principle is he leaning on here?

The US Constitution.

Lets be serious, very few people in the history of the world have any attempted to do what the founders did and out of those look at how few actually had success.

A random doctor angry about a birth certificate is laughable.

I expected much better or you, guess I was wrong.

Evidently you don't have the first clue about the UCMJ, or probably the Constitution either.

If an officer orders you to break the law are you still compelled to follow those orders?

That defense didn't work at Nuremberg.

Why would it work today?

yeah it's exactly the same thing

No it is NOT!!

His logic is fine as is anyone else's raising a question. His problem is that, by law, he is obligated to follow the orders of those appointed over him, period. His little charade will not end well.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

No period, you don't understand the UCMJ at all.

Never served did you?

It isn't a charade, the real charade is by the charlatan in the White House.

His balls are huge!!

And is a great American

I agree!

And his brain power is small or misguided......

Not as small or misguided as most of the posters in this thread.

Not a chance he sees Leavenworth

I agree.

Earlier an enlisted man refused to go to Afghanistan with for the same reason, the army swept that under the rug and gave him another assignment and didn't prosecute any sort of courts martial against him.

This case may be harder to sweep under the rug.

During the Vietnam conflict one Army Major made a statement that ended up in the press saying; "What good does it do to file a report from the field since it will always end up on the desk of some communist in Washington?"

The civilian Secretary of the Army superceded the whole chain of command and ordered him to go to his home (in Colo.) and remain there. He was paid his due pay until his commission expired, then he was unceremoniously decomissioned.

I'm appalled at the level of ignorance I am presented with on this board, appalled I say!

Don't be a nimrod GS. I served and spent four years at Hudson High learning all about UCMJ. Even went and played with live bad guys. If this POS happened to be one of my lieutenants, he'd have issues turning me down.

This is some dumbass crusade and this idiot has no legal right whatsoever to disobey any order of any officer in whose command he resides. None, zero, zilch. Your drivel about the Constitution is cute, but worthless.

If you believe the head clown hasn't been vetted by our intelligence services, then you're another mindless birther buffoon.

And OBT freaking way, the Secretary of the Army is in the Chain of command. The top three for all but the CJCS are civilians, but you knew that.

I do know about the UCMJ, lived under its guidelines for six years....Did not make it a point to memorize its every word like some apparently have. I also know about integrity. I also know that when you are given orders by your commanding officer, you follow them.

This "Officer" is a disgrace to the uniform, plain and simple.

An officer with any integrity would never do that,....The officer in question however....different story.

And for the record I agree that he should have to show documentation that proves he should hold the office....But the method here is ridiculous.

People are grasping for any thing to bring Obama down.

The method is free election. Stop worrying about non sense and get people to vote.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on your last statement, in reality he is honoring his oath.

His numerous awards speak well of his honor.

I too served under the UCMJ for six years, it is in my estimation one of the finest pieces of work ever penned by man.

I don't claim to be an expert but I have studied it in detail on my own and also have six hours college credit in the subject.

Like I said, none of that makes me an expert but the obot claim that Colonel Lakin is going to be railroaded to Ft. Leavenworth is ludicrous.

BTW, Obama could avert this whole thing if he is able.

Charges havn't been filed just yet, my guess is that Lt. Col. Lakin will be dismissed from service by the (civilian) Secretary of the Army.

If that doesn't happen then the proceedings should be interesting to say the least and will not be covered by LSM.

no he isn't. He's using unfounded rumor to make a political statement.

His numerous awards speak well of his honor.

no they don't. They are like candy in combat. To wit, John Kerry was damn near a deserter and was highly decorated.

He continues this stupid crusade and he'll get the hammer, if only as an example.

But that civilian is still in Lakin's direct CoC.

The guy has absolutely marginalized himself with this move. If his position had any merit, he undermined it completely.

There is no way you can honestly compair a twit surgeon to the founders.

Comparing the British gov't to Obama..... really?

:banghead2:

Lakin serves as Chief of Primary Care and Flight Surgeon for the DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic and is lead Flight Surgeon charged with caring for Army Chief of Staff General Casey’s pilots and air crew.

His numerous awards and decorations include the

Army Flight Surgeon’s Badge,

Combat Medical Badge,

the Bronze Star Medal,

the Meritorious Service Medal,

the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters,

the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters,

the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star,

the Armed Forced Expedition Medal,

the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal,

the Army Service Ribbon,

the Overseas Service Ribbon and

the NATO service medal.

And he is a 'twit?' No wonder you and bammeronefive are on the same page, you two should get a room of your own.

The exchange between you two is not nearly as funny as the turd in the punchbowl trick.

He hasn't lost just yet.

Is it not better to lose with honor than to win with shame??

We are talking about a LT Col.

If you really knew that much about the UCMJ then you wouldn't make such idiotic statelments about the Colonel's rights and you would understand his action and discuss that rather than taking cheap shots at his character.

Did a dumbass buffoon compile this list???

The only dumbass buffoons in the equation are those sheeple who will accept most anything and make the absurd claim that an officer has no rights under the UCMJ!

Furthermore the only drivel in this exchange is coming from you.

Furthermore it isn't up to the intelligence services to vet the head clown, it is up to the electorial process to follow the law, that has not been done.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Most of those medals are simple service medals. One looks like it might be valorous, but I bet every LTC in the Army who has been to the ME has one. He's a freaking flight surgeon, not David Hackworth. I bet he is still serving out his medical training commitment.

The guy has a right to ignore unlawful orders solely. None other.

I have every award other than the Bronze Star,MSM, and the reserve deals.

And i was just an average 4 year buck sergeant. Most awards sound important when dealing with someone who has no clue what they are.

He has in effect isolated himself and may possibly lose future retirement and other benefits.

He has exausted all channels up the chain of command and therefore has not undermined himself.

No I do know what I'm talking about.

You make some of the most idiotic statements.

Care to list your own medals??

To say a Bronze Star 'might be valorous' is ludicrous, they don't pass those out every day, especially to surgeons.

You saying that a Lt Col is still serving out his medical training commitment pretty well removes what little credibility you still have.

To say that a chief flight surgeon might be still serving his medical training commitment is moronic and removes all doubt.

It is also unbecoming of an officer and gentleman as you claim to be or have been, to attempt to bismirch his good name just beacuse you may not agree with or support his stand.

If the commander in chief is not legally that, then all orders are unlawful, that is his contention.
