I’ve been doing some research in the past two days on how the defense of Georgia might come after us. It looks and sounds like they’re going to put in more blitz packages to come after Hooker. Something that we’ve haven’t seen much in games thus far.
So, I was wondering if our coaches will put new wrinkles in to counter those blitzes? I believe everyone is saying they will try to collapse the pocket to throw Hooker’s timing off.
I believe we can throw out to the flat, roll him out a little bit, and kill them on quick slants.
Anyone else hearing this?

This is guaranteed. The best way to shut us down is to have Hooker on his back. They will likely be successful for the most part. We shut down AL's defense so our O line is capable of stuffing them, but I think GA is a step above AL on D. It is going to be a gory game. No one with a heart condition should watch this one......

Just let the coaches, coach, my child. And fan like a fan.
Relax, believe, cheer, cheer, cheer our team, and;
Everything else, my boy, I assure you for sure, will take care of itself.
Hush, hush, little one, lay your worries on the right, place your faith to the left.

Rewatching the past few games, the ball is out of Hooker's hand many times at around 2 seconds and occasionally close to 3 seconds. That doesn't leave much time for a blitz to get home and is one of the reasons our offense runs so smoothly.

I think someone in another thread said it best. Hooker will need to make quick decisions and occasionally throw the ball away. He has held it a little too long as he has become more comfortable with his protections. UGA is not good at sacks this year, so I envision they may steal some tricks from Banks this week to generate pressure.

Unlike most, our Hooker doesn't do his work on his back!

I can't wait to see this game. Blitz = Torched. Oh yea, we demonstrated a pretty capable run game Saturday. So really Blitz = Torched by pass OR torched by run. Love it.

This brings up a question I have been pondering. I don’t recall seeing a RB screen all year. Is this just something that Huepel doesn’t care for? Doesn’t fit in his philosophy?

Looks like their best pass rusher might be out this week with an injury. He's also one of the leaders of that defense.

If it’s number 88 I think he’s going to be back. But I may have him mixed up with someone else.

The more they put in the box the less they have to cover our receivers. If we spread the field and they load the box there will be mismatches in our favor. The quick outs we throw will go for 6.

that is exactly what these 2 GA homers broke down film and said. They said the best defense against us was Pitt and they blitzed constantly which is something Bama and LSU did not do. Kinda long video but not totally uninteresting

Yep. That is the way to attempt to slow us down. Speed up our clock and don't let those nasty Heupel route combos have time to develop. Hooker runs (designed or not), slants, and screens will be more of the norm this week. They have the athletes to stand up and play pressure coverage....Pitt didn't. I expect a great game. This is the first time in a long time I'm not afraid of being outcoached in a game like this. This is definitely a strength on strength match-up, and I firmly believe the loser still makes it to the playoff assuming the winner wins the SECcg.
