Defense of Georgia bringing the blitz package for this game

This brings up a question I have been pondering. I don’t recall seeing a RB screen all year. Is this just something that Huepel doesn’t care for? Doesn’t fit in his philosophy?
Slow developing play. Doesn’t fit the philosophy of the offense.

UT hasn't seen a lot of blitz because they have run the ball effectively. That and play action are the keys to the ignition. The offense takes what the defense is giving when it's done correctly. Georgia's only chance to stop it is to mask their defenses better than the other opponents have, stuff the run and get UT behind the sticks. Last years defense could probably do that but this years its a big question-mark.

I’ve been doing some research in the past two days on how the defense of Georgia might come after us. It looks and sounds like they’re going to put in more blitz packages to come after Hooker. Something that we’ve haven’t seen much in games thus far.
So, I was wondering if our coaches will put new wrinkles in to counter those blitzes? I believe everyone is saying they will try to collapse the pocket to throw Hooker’s timing off.
I believe we can throw out to the flat, roll him out a little bit, and kill them on quick slants.
Anyone else hearing this?
That's when they get hit with a slant or a run.

Burn a timeout to sub in a blitz package and end up showing it to us pre-snap when we motion, brilliant.

Get your blitz package stuck on the field due to our tempo, and burn another timeout to swap players, priceless.

Could be a lot of “injury” timeouts for cramps, menstrual not leg, in this game.🤣

Pitt really stayed in the game against us by being committed to bringing the house, even if meant they gave up a few plays. They really disrupted the typical rhythm of the offense and got Hooker and Co. out of sync often. I expect to see the same from GA.

That's what they did last year. A big difference this year could be backs and ends picking up blocking assignments and also getting more into the passing game. I think some key design QB sneaks also need to happen. If we somehow can run the ball effectively then that opens things up. But yeah, I definitely think Hooker is going to have less time to throw the ball. Slants will indeed be key, but I think he also may air it out and let Hyatt go get it. I also wonder how many plays we have that are designed to be yards after catch that don't require as much space. Something Dobbs and company were great at. This will be our OL's biggest test.

Research? Did they have open practice or are a friend of Kirby?

I’m sure Heupel will have a few screens set up to take advantage. The throw to Small at the end of the game was a nice wrinkle also

Just let the coaches, coach, my child. And fan like a fan.
Relax, believe, cheer, cheer, cheer our team, and;

Hush, hush, little one, lay your worries on the right, place your faith to the left.
Damn I love this.

Georgia can’t stop our offense. Ain’t happening so can they score enough to keep up. Vols win.

The GA fans did a really good job there. I could hear the fear several times. A couple of good points and ways that you have to play to beat TN.

#1 Gotta run M2M defense 85% and mix in disguised zones some. DBs must stay on top. Force everything in front. TN will roast the middle of field, but you have to eliminate the splash plays.

#2 Bring the heat from everywhere possible. AL made a tragic mistake and never adjusted by "hoping" to get pressure w a superior front 4. Nope our OL has drastically improved and that front 4 are NOT superior now. If Hooker has time to make the decision he wants UGA dies. He must be pressured and knocked off his scheme. Hooker will run for 3 digits and huge plays will ensue by RBs and short or med slants / screens. But, UT must be forced to try an adjust to the pressure.

That would be my D philosophy. Unfortunately that will only be less worse ... Vols by fiddy!

They'd better blitz. Our OL has quietly become legit. UGA has not sacked many (10) this entire season. The Bama game plan alone has 52 solid reasons why they'd better take some chances.

They played Georgia last year. They know Georgia scouted the Pitt game, where we were blitzed a ton. In short, we are expecting blitzes and must make them pay.

Heupel will just WR screen the crap out of them until they knock off the blitz garbage. If they bring the linebackers a nice quick slant to Hyatt or Tillman for 20 yards per toss should back them off.

I recall a lot of talk on a bama’s cheeto package. Bring the house and let Hooker burn them

You need to work on your comma and period placement. It's the beginning of wisdom. ;-)

Naw. I got to give folks addicted to criticizing something to criticize just to keep them happy. I aim to please.
The pleasure you feel in criticizing robs others from being moved by very beautiful things. (Jean de la Bruyere)

I personally think this offense is a nightmare for a blitz heavy defense. Leaves the middle open and our spacing will create explosive plays. They may get to HH a few times but QB draws, screen passes, RB dumps, etc. will prevent them from going to that well too many times. Heupul knows it's coming.

Georgia when healthy I think is better defensively than Bama. Idk that they’re healthy in this game. Tennessee will still score in bunches unless Kirby figures out something no one else has been able to.

On offense their TEs will be a unique challenge to shut down but it seems like overall their offense is less explosive than Bama’s and maybe our defense has figured out some things in the secondary. I do feel like the defense comes in with a little chip on their shoulder with our offense and Georgia’s defense getting all the praise in this matchup.
I agree. Stetson can’t drive the long ball. Pass pro is a weak spot for their Oline too. They are great at run blocking and hitting the TE on a 3 step drop. Game is going to come down to our LBs. They have to cover the TE and stop the run. Gonna be a busy game for Banks

Is anyone paying attention to how much Georgia subs in and out on the defensive side of the ball. They have to spend a lot of time this week trying to figure out how to play their style defense without all the sub opportunities against our tempo.

Who do they have that can play 4 quarters of basketball on grass and can those guys play solid against our run game? Your best edge rusher is out and we’ve shown we can shut those kinds of guys down.

Cooper is going to have to play the game of his season because I think he’s who they’ll target to try and shut down the middle and try to get to Hendon.

Screens to the outside.
1 on 1 match ups
Our WR screens keep getting called for OPI. I guess if the pass is not behind the LOS, then you can't block before the ball is caught. It seems like they only started calling this in the last couple of weeks.

Calling it now, the Ced Tillman of old returns and eats these suckers alive!
He goes for at least one-fiddy and a couple of scores!
With all the talk about Georgia’s TE’s, watch out for Princeton Fant this week! Heup hasn’t been breaking him in for nothing.
He has a historical game between the hedges.
