Defense

Defense let Schrader become the first player in SEC history to have over 300 yards from scrimmage at the RB position.

There are 6-7 players in the SEC that had their career high in rushing or passing vs Banks defense. This isn’t a coincidence and the fact that people are using the fact that Hazle sucks to defend Banks is hysterical. A HS coach could have stopped them from getting points at the end of the half.

Banks has to go. End of story. I said it yesterday, the guy coaches a gem in A&M and then disappears. Our LBers particularly 44 and 6 played like complete dog sh1t
Phil Parker from Iowa would be an awesome hire at DC. I agree Banks has to go...I'm more so frustrated that he fails to make proper adjustments during the game.

The defense did not lose this game. Sure, they could certainly have played better, but 7 points on offense will never win many games. There seems to be more talk of the failure of the defense than the lackluster show by the offense.
Of course there is, there’s more clueless on here than there are that knows what they’re talking about.
But you are correct.

Guy the defense was a huge problem. You cant allow a team to have 20 play drives for 3 points. Mizzouri could have done just about anything they wanted

And you can't expect an SEC to win games and your offense can only score 7 points. I don't care what kind of defense you have on the field. You ain't winning games scoring 7 points.

Neither group played well, but you cannot excuse the defense. We had the ball for 3 plays and 1:45 of the 1st quarter. If the defense was playing so well, they would not have given up two 1st quarter drives totaling 13:15. MO’s second possession was 20 plays and 10:55 of possession time. We were fortunate to not be down 0-14 at the end of 1.

MO ended the game with 530 yards and 39:56 of possession. The defense allowed Schrader 205 yds rushing and 116 receiving. MO averaged 5 yds per carry. That was the one of the best performances by a RB (in total yards) in SEC history and the second best ever by a MO running back. If you watched the game, there is no way you came away with any positive impression of the defense outside of the one INT. The defense was exposed at every position group. The DL got little pressure, the LBs were completely non-existent, and the DBs looked lost most of the time. You have to get to the 5th most tackles by player before you find the first DL or LB. Our top four tacklers were DBs.

Punting was probably the only area where we looked effective yesterday. We had 6 punts averaging 43.7 yds with a long of 54 yds. Three punts were downed inside the 20.

Yeah the offense fumbled the ball in key moments and I think Sampson should've had touches way early in the game Wright wasn't getting it done and I was surprised when I saw them put Small in. Sampson is like a Barry Sanders, able to slip tackles and get yards, he's more dynamic.

With that being said if your defense allows another team to keep the ball a whole quarter, can't get off in 3rd and 15+, not stop a QB that's in the endzone but allow him to run for 15+ yards, give the WR 10yrd cushions constantly it's going to be a long day for the offense, they're going to be pressed to score and start forcing things to try to catch up.

There's 4 quarters in a game.

The defense absolutely did lose this game. Offense definitely shot itself in the foot throughout but we moved the football and definitely had the opportunity to score more. There was never a point in this game where we had a chance to win with 44 matched up on their RB. We could’ve made it closer but Missouri was going to win. We had no answer defensively for their RB. We continued to match a player incapable of stopping him against him.
