Defense

Yeah the offense fumbled the ball in key moments and I think Sampson should've had touches way early in the game Wright wasn't getting it done and I was surprised when I saw them put Small in. Sampson is like a Barry Sanders, able to slip tackles and get yards, he's more dynamic.

With that being said if your defense allows another team to keep the ball a whole quarter, can't get off in 3rd and 15+, not stop a QB that's in the endzone but allow him to run for 15+ yards, give the WR 10yrd cushions constantly it's going to be a long day for the offense, they're going to be pressed to score and start forcing things to try to catch up.

If an offense in the SEC can't catch up by 1 touchdown all game, that's a bigger problem. If you can turnover the ball 3 times, but not score once, that's not on the defense. We had opportunities to score, but couldn't. We had opportunities to get off the field on defense but couldn't. The loss was a team effort and the TEAM needs to take responsibility for that.

Guy the defense was a huge problem. You cant allow a team to have 20 play drives for 3 points. Mizzouri could have done just about anything they wanted
Yep the defense was a problem.
The offense was a bigger problem.

If they have a 20 play drive and get only 3, it’s a win. An interception and 0 is a bigger win ,,, unless the offense squandered the gift and did nothing with it🤷🏻‍♂️

The defense absolutely did lose this game. Offense definitely shot itself in the foot throughout but we moved the football and definitely had the opportunity to score more. There was never a point in this game where we had a chance to win with 44 matched up on their RB. We could’ve made it closer but Missouri was going to win. We had no answer defensively for their RB. We continued to match a player incapable of stopping him against him.
That’s bull 💩 . We had an opportunity to lead 14 -10 at halftime.
But the 1st of three turnovers made sure we never had a lead.

But yeah it’s the defense that didn’t hold them to 6 points for the game that lost it🙄

You think we win this game if the offense plays better and the defense played the same?

So are you blaming Milton for the rbs sh1t performance. Cause they were all no shows. And honestly to me it looked like Milton was the ONLY one who gave a damn on offense

The defense did not lose this game. Sure, they could certainly have played better, but 7 points on offense will never win many games. There seems to be more talk of the failure of the defense than the lackluster show by the offense.
We had a complete breakdown on both sides of the ball. They both sucked.

44 ain't fast enough to cover in space.

I wonder how much Missouri realized it when the game started or was it the obvious blown coverage on the 1st series on the will route that tipped them off to keep going back to the well. As concerning was not consistently filling the right gap on run plays and getting juked in open space. Clearly he wasn't breaking down for a sure tackle on those plays. The thought process of what is needed is practiced over and over. Let the offensive player commit before getting out of the tackling position.

Clarification - I think Slaughter released the RB on the 1st will route.

The defense lost this game. The offense lost this game. Coaching lost this game. Lack of effort lost this game. Our punter didn’t lose this game, he played well. Everything else sucked.

Honestly, you can upgrade players, but my biggest concern is that we're not a very strong coaching staff. I question both coordinators and Martinez. Hey Heupel knows what he wants, and I'd have to guess he knows a good coach when he sees one, but I don't feel any confidence that UT will out coach or out scheme an opponent anymore. When Golesh was here, it was different. Now I have zero confidence in this staff.

Yesterdays first quarter said all you need to say about our defense. Same thing last season, but we had guys on O that could overcome it.

Not only that but I don't recall a single fumble nor did he tap out for a breather.
I didn't either. Everyone wants to point fingers at the offense but the defense was way worse. It was the same recipe as the UF game. Defense could not get off the field on 3rd down and Missouri played keep away. I knew the game was over when it was 3rd and long and Missouri was pinned back inside there own 5 yard line and nobody spied on Cook. Just dumb playcalling all day long

When Golesh was here, we had first round draft picks on offense.

Missouri ran the same 5 plays over and over. Tired of the secondary, Seniors who can not play!!!! Everyone except Jackson Ross sucked! Banks needs to be fired. Heupel needs to stop being their best buddy and crawl their tails!

True, but this isn't the same offense. Pretty clear they don't trust this roster to run the full offense. They're afraid of mistakes and coaching conservatively or as some would say, scared. If you get beat, you get beat. Just do it being who and what you are. Yeah, easy for me to say since it's not my team and my career on the line, but now that our conference goals are gone, I see no reason not to run your offense and go back to being aggressive on defense. Go down swinging and play youngsters. See what you have and what they are capable of. How does Heupel know what to focus on in the portal unless he knows what he has?

But heupel has adapted to the strength of this team which is running the football. Good coaches find that out and utilize it.... unfortunately yesterday was a disaster. He seems to struggle in adapting mid game if the game plan isn't working

It's hard for the offense to score while standing on the sidelines. Mizzou used up almost a full 1st quarter on one possession. Both offense and defense played poorly yesterday, but the defense has been consistent all season laying an egg. Time of possession made a big difference yesterday

I would say they saw it on tape. Then exploited it repeatedly. We are really slow on defense
