Demarco Cobbs Rock Painted?

I love UT Football, but I don't care if Cobbs doesn't understand. Honoring a friend is much more important. Afterall doesn't everyone always talk about the UT family.... what kind of family would it be not honoring the student. Also to friends and family of the student ..sorry about the loss.

This, IF it has indeed already been painted over

I agree.....

BTW....The Pride of The Southland Band is pretty harsh if they painted over a memorial for a deceased student....who knew that band members (of all groups of society) could be so cold blooded!

Yes, some band members have painted over it. It's safe to paint for Cobbs now, if he's still here tomorrow.

Just curious, when is it appropriate to...and who should be allowed to paint over it?

anyone know what happened to the student? just curious...

He was home at his parents house. His dad went in to his room to check on him around 10AM and he was snorning and decided to let him sleep longer, then at about 1 he decided he need to wake him up and he was gone.

Terrible...thoughts and prayers are with the family/friends for sure. :cray:

It was even up for a day and a half. I'd say give it at least til his funeral, which is tomorrow. I drove by the intramural fields today and they were doing some stupid crap out there like usual. If i saw that on there, even if i didn't know the student, I wouldn't paint over it and i would expect most decent people to do the same

Guess you would rather the players just trot out of the tunnel and up the sideline....you're a liar if you say you don't get excited when the T opens.

How long are you supposed to leave something up? Sure they could have left it alone, but I don't see it being all that disrespectful. People saw it, and then they painted it up for something different.

Ya its cool when the T opens up, but it really doesn't matter one way or another b/c the game is gonna get played with or without the band. Also, you wouldn't even say that if you knew him and what a great man he was.

Would you care if you didn't know the guy? Who died has no bearing on my comments. Dead is dead. It sucks, but there's nothing you can do about it. The best advice I ever received about death was from my grandmother. There's nothing you can do about it; don't let it get in the way of life.

What separates college athletics from professional is the atmosphere. By your own admission, we should skip tailgating and all other gameday festivities. After all, the game gets played anyway. We could just all show up at kickoff, watch the game, then go home. No rallies, no pregame television coverage, no prognostications, no smack talk, nothing. The game still gets played.

Not sure if this was his point, but my only problem with it is that it was painted over by a department/club/rep. of the university. Thus, b/c they represent the university you would have thought they would have been a wee bit more respectful and at least waited until it got painted over by someone else or whatever... It just looks bad on the University that they were the ones that painted over it...

How do they know when it happened? To those who painted it, it could have been up for a month and a half. Who knows. It was painted to celebrate the incoming members of the Pride, and that's that. I know the people that did it and they did a good job on the rock.
