Democratic Socialism

Medicare administration is 1.4 percent.

The same costs in the private sector range from 11 to 20 percent, depending on type.

PolitiFact - Comparing administrative costs for private insurance and Medicare

It is too easy to hide behind the vague boogeyman of "Sure, but in the future costs will go up" when the reason it is so low is economies of scale, and you will increase that benefit by having a public option, not decrease it.

The cost of delivery of medical care in this country will go up under either, but it is magnitudes worse under the current system because of inefficiency and fragmentation. The private insurers LOVE that because it provides cover for them to exact such a huge price to deliver the same services as Medicare, but for more money.

Don't most medicare recipients go through private insurers?

Please ask and listen to anyone on the delivery end of health care. NurseGoodVol, the hospital administrator who posts here, KiddieDoc...anybody. Private health insurance and Medicare are not analogous. It is not an apples to apples comparison. Medicare sets the policy for services. There is no debate. Private insurance works within the system.
My Congressman, Dr. Phil Roe , who is retiring after this term, ran for office for the main purpose of trying to help fix the healthcare situation. He was first elected in 2008.

As a retired physician, he tried on several occasions to offer his expertise, advice, and ideas to the Obama administration. They would not return his calls. Obama had a plan he was hellbent on ramming down people's throats. So much for reaching across the aisle.

Way off topic, but these people who walk around in public with black muck on their foreheads look like idiots. They are doing nothing more than announcing their membership to the religion of pedophilia. I've been seeing these morons in and out all day... and in Knoxville, you don't expect it as much.

Sorry... in a bad mood.
There is only a tiny, tiny fraction of Catholics that aren't disgusted with pedophilia.

Ya know I'm no fan of papists (have my reasons) but this is ridiculous.

When are you ever in a good mood? Surprised you didn't include a hate Trump in that post somehow.

No, my father in law and his wife are catholic.

Mine, too (including wife). Remember that day long ago you wondered if we married the same woman? I'd bet there are a lot more like them, too. Mine had hip surgery the first of the year, and it's been an amazing experience. She has actually discovered "please" and "thank you" ... all on her own.

Which historically in this instance is roughly 1/6th the cost of the private middle man.

Like I say, I am fine with public option, don;t make it mandatory. Put it out there next to Aetna and BCBS. Let your neighbor sign up first and come to you and explain that they are going to your same doctor and have the same catastrophic coverage you have, and they are paying a third less.
As long as paying into it is optional as well

Elections have consequences.

Exactly correct. This is where I am more in line with Biden, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar, and depart from Bernie. It is simply an option. Same for employers.

So you can get the same coverage, maybe even better, and without the indecipherable and mystifying confusion of copays and deductibles and rate acceptances with weird bills showing up 5 months later, and go see your own doctor as before, and for 70 % of what you (or your employer) pay now.

Totally up to you whether to continue to pay way more than you need to.

Her dad converted so he could marry the current wife. My Mrs isn't catholic, she was raised baptist.

My wife was already catholic ... schools and all. I even agreed to raise children as catholics - although I never intended to comply. I don't respond well to coercion, so I simply told a priest what he wanted to hear so I could marry the girl I wanted. This will be our 50th year, and I haven't been struck by lightning, so I'm taking that as a sign.

My wife tried her damndest to get me to be a God fearing baptist, even agreed to let her pastor do the ceremony which required us together and individually go to his counseling sessions.
