Six House Democrats, led by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), want to set up a "Reasonable Profits Board" to control gas profits.

The Democrats, worried about higher gas prices, want to set up a board that would apply a "windfall profit tax" as high as 100 percent on the sale of oil and gas, according to their legislation. The bill provides no specific guidance for how the board would determine what constitutes a reasonable profit.
Specifically, he said the money would be used to fund a tax credit on the purchase of fuel-efficient cars and set up a grant program for mass transit programs when oil-and-gas prices are high.
anyone trust these people to be able to define "reasonable profits"?

your "well they do it too" excuse is tired. I wouldn't support it if they were GOP either. More partisan hackery from LG

The profit margin for the major oil companies historically hovers between six and eight percent. You go much lower than that and many will start dumping oil holdings from their mutual funds and 401Ks.

Huh? I said it will never pass.

Then, numbnuts expressed fake concern that it "has a chance," or some such garbooge, and i am pointing out that both parties have elements that periodically propose junk legislation like this purely as show.

Quit making up more false outrage crap. Swear you guys work for Fox when you aren't here.

so since it will never pass that excuses their stupidity and we should not worry that this is the kind of stuff our reps are sitting around dreaming up while getting paid with our tax dollars. Got it

LG,

Do you really not have a problem with this kind of crap being discussed or proposed? Does the fact that it won't pass make it okay?

Like Republican Overlords mysteriously preventing a "major" victory for Santorum in Iowa that would "dramatically" change the race all to protect their chosen candidate? Nah.

You are a true champion in the sport of avoiding inconvenient answers.

The proposal is meant only to draw attention to oil company profits. Its a gimmick. Will never even make it to a subcommittee in the House and probably only get one hearing in a Senate committee just so people can make some speeches.

Get over it.

So the answer to my question was "No, I don't have a problem with it."

You kind of drove around the block on that one.

I don't have a problem with them proposing to paint the moon purple. No one gives a crap except for people looking for an opportunity to express fake outrage.

What is the difference between telling a person how much money they are allowed to make and telling them where they can and can't put their peter?
