I wonder how much fraud and abuse goes on in the state. I saw that the governor of Oklahoma (I think) is starting his own DOGE program to ferret out waste fraud and abuse within the state and to get rid of that.

Right on. Let's get rid of these highly compensated bureaucrats that do nothing other than push paper and cash big checks.

Your problem is you are assuming that a reduction in federal funding couldn’t be offset by a reduction in taxes.

"Condoms for Gaza" was, "condoms for the Taliban" was another one yesterday, the NYT thing you just saw where it apparently was a search for "New York" in general, the Politico thing where $44K was from USAID and the rest was from elsewhere in the government for Politico Pro subscriptions (but Trump still lied about "a payoff" below), pretty much everything people have looked into has been made up or dishonestly framed. Framing things as if all "bad" spending is the left's fault is pretty dishonest too

If the fed has defense dollars to spend and Musk companies are the best option, then there's really no contention regarding the award. Hundreds of millions are petty cash to a guy worth 1/4 trillion.

You should definitely reiterate your anecdotal experience with a Louisiana school superintendent to your Tennessee state reps when you make the case for slashing superintendent pay to help third-graders learn to read at grade level.

BTW, every member of your school board is a Republican, so you should have zero pushback when you tell them you want to decrease the superintendent's pay, since it will save money in the budget.

That's not what the article is saying, but rather TN pays $4.75 for every federal $ received.'
The lower the amount paid, the more dependent and the higher the ranking number, the lesser dependent.
