Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Wow. So mature.
I don't care what the media said about Biden. I certainly don't think Trump "has what it takes" unless tanking the stock market, damaging foreign relations, and raising prices for Americans is "what it takes". I think you've had too much to drink...but it ain't scotch; it's Kool-Aid.
Thanks for noticing Mrs. Jewels.

Calm down. There are checks and balances. He isn't "taking over" anything, and if what he is "cutting off" is illegal then it will be stopped. The refreshing part is that it is out in the open instead of behind closed doors.
If it isn't Elon, who will it be? Feds at all levels exist to cover up everything they screw up. Nobody will fix it, nobody will look into it, nobody wants to rock the boat. It's been that way forever and will continue to be that way until a drastic excision is undertaken.

The bloat and mess is so thick taking the lolbertarian approach of trying to let the "system" fix itself while bleating "hurr durr UNELECTED BUREAUCRATS" at everything is just idiocy. When you have a brutal and spreading cancer you don't just take your hands off of it and let it run.

This isn't a MSM thing, but common sense. He's an unelected private citizen with a major conflict of interest getting access to our sensitive personal data. Whether he's sifting through it personally at this moment is irrelevant. He now has it. That's a major problem.

And speaking of trusting the MSM, why should any of us trust anything Musk says? He has a long history of lying and spreading false information. I'd much rather have someone with nothing to gain and a history of honesty leading this exercise.
Why do you assume they (DOGE) do not have clearance?

My last company does a ton of work with the federal government. They absolutely had to go through stringent background checks and obtain clearance.
I have built a career directly in fed contracting and I absolutely guarantee I know more than some internet dweeb whose "last company does a ton of work with the federal government".

If you think the background check and clearance process for most contracts (ESPECIALLY outside of defense) is
1. failsafe, and
2. anything other than layers of bureaucratic box-checking,

I've got a beautiful piece of Kansan oceanfront property set aside just for you.

Who still must go through and obtain clearance. And there is major hell to pay if they abuse it. What checks are on Elon? Seriously, do you think he has any checks whatsoever? Are you really comfortable with that?

I agree, if Musk and his musketeers haven't been granted a clearance it's concerning. If they have then they would be subject to the same penalties any other .gov contractor would be for misuse or abuse of that data.

He has a group taking over the sensitive payments system. Thats been reported

So who is the balance to this and who is checking the legality? This isn't even the place that's making those decisions.

This is pure partisan politics that you all screamed about for the past 4yrs. The shift is hilarious and pitiful at the same time

As opposed to the same demographic that was running the Biden White House
My favorite image of Biden's "speechwriting" team was when it showed the "diverse" crew sitting around eating pizza or some sh*t with the only two people apparently working being the two white dudes in the room huddled in a corner.

Yeah I'm sure Chucky and Shifty aren't looking into the legalities. I'm sure the lawsuits will drop any day now.

Cheeky. Seriously, I don't want any of them in there. Way too much conflict of interest. In this digital age civilian data is a huge commodity. Not to mention I don't have a scintilla of trust in them.
Conflict of interest????? Seriously? And 'elected officials' haven't had any conflict of interest for millenia. Got it. It's in the open now. Why is that more scary than before?

Apparently Musk already had top secret clearance prior to Trump being in office.

“SpaceX lawyers and executives reportedly concluded that if the company sought a higher level of clearance than Musk currently holds, he risked being turned down and potentially stripped of the clearances he currently holds.“

“Musk currently holds a “top-secret” clearance that took years to obtain “

I understand the sentiment. However, the right question might be do I trust people outside the government who might have some issues over the federal beauracy and Congress.

Hands down I am going with Elon. Gates, Cuban, etc as long as their motivations are the same as Elon's.

Not saying it's perfect nor that problems will not occur. I am saying the Federal government is a ravenous beast demanding we feed it. Congress is about as useful as a quadriplegic QB to tame it, if Congress has any desire to tame it.

OMB and attorneys are present in all teams looking at the various agencies.

We've seen no evidence to indicate they do, and reporting from the USAID incident indicates they were denied access due to the lack of clearance.

It would be good to get some clarification from POTUS.
The USAID incident was reported by the MSM. It started with them not gaining access to the building, to not allowing them access to USAID data, to now wanting access to classified information with no clearance.
