Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE

Not gonna happen. It all has to be done through attrition. You might hear about reduction in force (RIF) actions to be taken, but those take years to complete, mainly because of the federal unions. I've actually done a RIF, it took two years. When I did it I had to give the employees 4 choices: retire if eligible, resign, get terminated, or get reassigned. They all took reassigned. There is zero quick fix to reduce government employment. Make people work more, make it uncomfortable, hold them accountable, encourage them to move on (retire/resign).. <--I have had greater success doing this than actually firing people.

Spending can be reduced. I see telework is on the chopping block and that makes zero sense to me. Congress doesn't even show up to work everyday so that should be handled first (lead by example). If you remove all telework there will be an increased need for offices which increases lease costs and utility costs. Since COVID the government has expanded telework (only like 20% can do it) but that has led to a reduction in office space and lower salaries. If you telework full time your pay is based off of where you live. Expand remote work and get out of as many leased buildings as possible. You can still reduce the workforce through attrition. Remote work? You're going to have a higher workload now.

Move agencies out of DC - I like that idea. That being said when you move them to lower cost of living areas guess what happens? The cost of living goes up.. Also keep in mind the "Agencies" in DC are just the headquarters. 95% of the agencies employees don't work in DC.

A lot of the DOGE ideas being brought up look like they are source from Facebook, Breitbart, and InfoWars.

My first step would be to stop hemorrhaging money to other countries. F*#k them.
By 'firing', I mean get rid of. The sooner the better. But I get what you are saying. Hog offered up the solution. Be creative. I'd be all for an early out program even if it costs more initially. Reduce the headcount... by a lot. Run the .gov like a damned business that has to make a profit and can't steal money from other people to support it's poor operating practices. And fire those that get in the way.

As far as working from home, is have to see the data on productivity, but I highly doubt workers are more productive sitting in their jammies with Candy Crush only six inches away and no supervisors looking over their shoulders.

Thats what I think will happen. But it doesnt cost more...They usually offer early retirement so the pension is reduced and they dangle a monetary carrot as well, usually like $25,000 (pre taxes) as a goodbye gift. So those instances work out better for the tax payers than allowing the person to go retirement eligible, usually at 57 with 20 years of service. I actually tried to initiate an early retirement offer for a group of folks in my agency buuuuuuuuuuut because it wasn't agency wide at the time and there was no mandate to cute back on employees, they said no. But come next year...

As far as productivity you are right. What I have seen is that there is usually a drop off in productivity. Some folks stay the same, and some do better (not lots).

Running but not innovating. Many would say the platform has been made worse and less user friendly
The Venn diagram of people who think Elon is the mascot of “efficiency” and the people who never actually use his website is a circle

He’s talking about drones that don’t have the range for that

I think I'll trust the guy that launched and caught a booster rocket as big a school bus, maybe not one the size of your bus, and caught it upon return.

There are hundreds of types of Drones. He's not talking about any specific drone. He's talking about a theoretical weapon. He's talking about guiding that weapon using AI and optics.

I realize it's beyond your scope to think on his level but to question his intelligence makes you look rather like an idiot.

We could just say he probably doesn't know much about fighter jets but you went for Olympic-level ass-kissing instead. How could one even question the guy who said taking down fighter jets is "laughably easy" based on "a theoretical weapon" and said this was going to be the last Presidential election.

So funny to begin your post with "trust him, bro" and end it with "don't question him," people just don't think anymore and want some YouTube video or narcissistic billionaire to do the thinking for them

Or you could stay in your lane instead of making you look like an Olympic-level idiot.

What's funny is you have no means to disprove him. You just hate him so you attempt to challenge him intellectually. How pathetic is that? 😅

What? He's wrong. It's not laughably easy to take down fighter jets, you shouldn't have needed me for that. You don't just "optically guide" your way into taking them down laughably easily from 100+ miles away, and you don't have to act like everything Elon says is 4D chess. This is not his "lane" at all

This from someone that can't define what a woman is. 😅

I suppose catching a rocket in midair is impossible too. 😅

The weirdest fanbase. I swear Elon could say something like "gravity doesn't exist in my bathroom because I told it to stop" and his stans would still respond with "wow so inspiring what a genius, this seems 100% true to me"

Did he say that?

If so, that’s very inspiring. I mean. What a genius. And ya know, it seems 100% true to me.

Not true at all. But if you think I'm gonna take anything you say on the matter as 1/1000000 of 1% valid you're delusional. Admit it, you don't know sh!t, you just hate him. That's what's pathetic.

Pointing out that what he said is stupid isn’t hate, doing the kiss-ass “I don’t know but I’ll trust the guy who” thing and trying to spin it into 4D chess is certainly being way too far up his ass though

You have no qualifications to say what he said is stupid. What's stupid is you challenging a guy that has done what he's done. That's the only stupid thing I see here. Keep doubling down though. 😅
