He is still Juan kewl Kat though. You’re my brudda @n_huffhines !!
Don’t like him denying free speech to users he doesn’t like, but I remember some posters on VN saying Twitter had a right to censor and ban speech they didn’t like.
What changed?
Well, no one should argue with a feller who claimed he was better at his job than Rick Barnes is at his job as HC of men's basketball at The University of Tennessee. That oozes an insurmountable amount of credibility.I’m sure that conversation would be productive.
It’s more comical watching libs navigate the Volnation political forum.
Again you need new material. That isn’t hitting like you think but you are in your own reality tunnel. So it sounds great in there I’m sure.Well, no one should argue with a feller who claimed he was better at his job than Rick Barnes is at his job as HC of men's basketball at The University of Tennessee. I suppose it's extremely good for you, given it's a dumbed downed Trump chamber
Its been since May 2022 at least...
Twitter is up 35%. I don't want him to do this because I want Musk to be a good guy, but would be hilarious if he sold and walked away with a grip.
I think he likes attention. I think he likes money. I think he has good intentions.
You have no idea what you're talking about. I am glad Musk bought Twitter. I want to see what happens. I just live in reality and know that the overwhelming majority of conservatives who want to have a voice on Twitter, have a voice on Twitter. They are seen and heard there more there than anywhere else. Prove me wrong. Can you name 5 places where conservatives have more of a voice? Any place? The only place I can think of in the conversation is Facebook.
I should add, the only thing that makes me skeptical that this is actually about speech is I'm pretty sure Musk was quiet about this issue all along. It was a much a bigger topic of conversation at other points (like in the height of COVID and also when Trump got banned and they deleted those 60k accounts). Why was he quiet for so long and then all of a sudden starts speaking out, and soon thereafter buys the company? Maybe he was trying to avoid controversy before (not really his style) and now decided to make a move when all his ducks are in a row? IDK. But that's the only thing about all this that gives me the slightest pause.
I'm not saying he won't improve speech standards there, but I'm questioning actual motives to some degree. That being said, I care less about motives and more about actions.
Just reinstalled Twitter on my phone.
I'm claiming victory on a long battle we fought here on VN. We want the government's involvement in social platforms limited, and we do not want to remove section 230 because it would ruin the internet. Once again, the free market has solved a problem that didn't seem solvable, and it did it without ruining the internet.
It doesn't make sense. Biden is a clown. Trump is a clown. Musk is one of the most impressive people on the planet.
I don't regard him as a free speech absolutist but operating in countries that restrict online speech should not be a disqualifier. Because what then? Unless the platform is outright banned - the obvious result if not complying with that government - citizens become pretty savvy about circumventing restrictions, such as Chinese users use of puns.Is that when he bought Twitter? I was initially happy he announced the purchase of Twitter and for the reasons he said were his motivations. That's when I started using Twitter again. The turning point was the "I'm a free speech absolutist" lie followed by the clarification that what he meant by free speech is whatever the laws of the land are, followed by a Twitter landscape that didn't reflect that.
The difference between me and all his fanboys on the right is that I actually wanted him to do a good job with speech on Twitter so much so that I turned on him when he didn't.
