Derek Barnett waived

I don't want to bet against him. Still, he's a journeyman and backup. No one is going to pay him to come in and be QB1.

Season's not over. If he continues his stellar play and leads the Vikings to the playoffs, you don't he'll get an opportunity as a QB1? The only reason Dobbs has been a journeyman is because nobody wanted to give him an opportunity. Not because he kept failing. Now he's finally got a shot and look at what he's doing. Bet against him at your peril. All I know is he's looking exactly the way I thought he would look once given a chance.

If you read my previous post, you would know I stated Dobbs' best chance at QB1 was to stay in Minnesota. He's played great, especially under the circumstances. Hope he continues it tomorrow night. Your claim was that Derek Barnett hadn't had the success as Dobbs has had in the NFL. That was 100% false. It's the complete opposite

Actually I said QBs have a longer time to prove themselves given the nature of the position they play. Barnett's best years are behind him while Dobbs best years are potentially ahead of him. I will grant you that Derek has had more NFL success thus far. But the story is far from complete for Dobbs.

"Barnett hasn't had the success of Dobbs".

The ignorance in the statement is quite funny. Of course you're pretty clueless as to how much better the NFL is than college. You wouldn't make such ridiculously deluded predictions if you knew any better

Former Eagles’ defensive end Derek Barnett was claimed today on waivers by the Houston Texans, per source.

Never had any negative feelings toward Barnett. Wish him nothing but success. I just was being realistic about his physical limitations. He's not a twitchy athlete. And it's typically the players with elite athleticism that succeed in the NFL.
Ignorant take. Seven seasons on the D Line in the NFL says that he was athletic enough. If he hadn’t been, he wouldn’t have lasted past one year. NFL teams don’t keep folks around to be nice. Injuries the last two years set him back and as one poster pointed out, the Eagles have a deep D line now which made him expendable. Sooner or later it happens to most players.

Been in the league what, 6 -7 seasons now? That’s about average or better for an NFL career. Hope he gets a few more years, but its a hard living to make.

You jinxed him…a long time ago.

Why am I not surprised that's your giddy over this.
Because you’re delusional…over more than this. My wife watched an entire football game…because she loves Dobbs. I watched him hoping he played well even tho it was against my Bears…because I love everything great about Dobbs. But your one-man preening clown show has caused many Vol fans to view the silver lining when his limitations are exposed. YOU did that, bunky! Congratulations. 😒

If you're more concerned about me being wrong than a kid as good as Josh living out his dream then you got some serious problems and probably shouldn't say you like him. It would be the equivalent of rooting against your Bears to lose every game because I decided to say they would go undefeated every season. What sense would that make for an alleged Bears fan? To root against your own team just to make an overzealous fan look bad.

By the way I still believe in Josh and think he'll be a Hall of Famer. This last game was just another piece of adversity he will eventually overcome in his ascend to greatness.

That’s never been the case. But your troll act has succeeded in making it less of a disappointment than it would be otherwise. Congratulations. I’ll do a whole lot of what I want…and successfully. And there’s no “alleged”. There’s plenty of witnesses on this board to my lot in life as a Bears fan. The bolded portion makes no sense…you having a breakdown? 🤨

Hope that prediction holds up better than your projection for Corey Davis.

Everyone WANTS Dobbs to do well. There is a reality factor to this story you just don't get in the slightest of ways. He's not an every Sunday, NFL QB1. It's absolutely not a disparagement to his character. He was a good college QB. Made a plethora of game changing plays. He just doesn't have the overall skills to be QB1 in the NFL. No shame in it at all. Hopefully he lands a solid no. 2 job for one of the better teams

I guess Dobbs owes his performance Monday night to this comment.

D4H doesn’t claim Dobbs is a QB1. He claims he’s a future Hall of Fame QB.

Breakdown? I just want you would be honest. You don't like Dobbs. To act like it's possible to enjoy a player you like failing because it proves some other guy wrong makes no sense. No one else thought to try and quote my post praising Dobbs after he plays such a poor game but you. I'm sure you know I'm not very popular here. But everyone else likes to see Dobbs succeed more than they would like to see me be wrong. You were the outlier. You were downright giddy to come in here and celebrate him looking bad on national TV. No real Dobbs fan would have done what you did.

Not when I see so many on here happy to celebrate his failures. It's one thing to say he's not as good as I say he is. It's another to celebrate his down moments just to say I'm wrong. If you like Dobbs then maybe you should not be so happy to see him down just so it proves your assessment of his talent. Dobbs has said many times he sees himself as more than a backup QB. If you actually like him you would want that to become true not actively root against it so some guy on a message board that you don't like is proven wrong.

I have no problem with being wrong. I just don't know how yall can be happy about it if you truly like Dobbs and want the best for him.

But that's not HONESTY. That's the "my truth or nothing" facade you've created on this board. I've often wondered this past decade how HONEST your troll act is to life. It's difficult to buy your "I know more football than anyone because I watch more highlights" act is on the up and up. And all that gobbledygoop you just butt-vomited is even more fake pious look at me garbage. Was all over the board praising what Dobbs did with no practice time all up to reality setting in against Denver. He's limited and not an answer as a long term starter. "Giddy" and "celebrate" indeed. Fake victim on you troll. Post from your Duke class reunion.

I got no problem if you do want to celebrate on Dobbs grave just to shove it in my face. But don't pretend to like the kid. Cause nobody does that if they actually like the person whose down. Most of Vol nation probably agrees with you over me when it comes to Dobbs NFL prospects. But they don't act like you act when he's down. That's cause they actually like the kid and want him to succeed even if it makes a guy like me who they don't like look like a prophet. You on the other hand seem to enjoy the prospect of telling me I'm wrong even if it means Dobbs has to suffer for it as well.

But I don't. Neither of us have any effect on Dobbs fortunes. You've never been a prophet or any advanced authority on the game. Your face prolly isn't very pretty if it matches your preening, troll personality...so I'm not shoving anything of value near it. Dobbs legacy at UT is safely revered in history. No one faults him for the loony trolls appropriating his name on a message board...you have no effect on him. That you have to slither away after your own personal fail is kinda cool!
