This board is fiscally conservative and socially moderate-liberal. I'd imagine the poll numbers on this board concerning how good of a job the POTUS is doing would be along the lines of the latest Rasmussen polls determining the same thing.

I suppose I could be considered leaning left, but only if the primary example of "right" is gsvol/joevol/vfj. I'm ambivalent toward abortion, could care less if gays want to marry, and I'm agnostic. On most other issues I'm pretty conservative. Leftist d-bags like LG like to call me a racist and David Duke-type righties like gsvol will call me a pudding-headed moron.

Wherever that middle-ground Sabbanochio staked out is located, I'm happy to occupy a spot right of center.

President George W. Bush, along with Donald Rumsfeld, had the same intentions: close the holding facility at Gitmo as soon as is operationally possible.

You'll only find those statements in their autobiographies, though...

There is a big difference between with the current administration is saying and what they are doing.

This is called politics; President Obama is not the first president to engage in this practice.

I understand they want it closed and they are trying to appeal to their far-left base.

I also am relieved it will not be closed because even this group of clowns realize it's not possible.

So, now the United States is a supreme deity who bestows certain rights to certain peoples and keeps them from others? Rights are inalienable and are not "given" by men; they certainly can be protected or violated by men, though.

The fact that there are so many that have been held at Gitmo without being convicted by a tribunal or by a court is an abortion of the entire concept regarding the rights of man. These men should have been subjected to a tribunal or trial at some point in the past ten years. There is plenty of blame to go around for this delay and there are few solutions for the conundrum we are in regarding the detainees being held indefinitely at Gitmo.

justin's got it right: Bush said he wanted to close Gitmo because it was the right thing to do, Obama said he wanted to close Gitmo so he could appease the far-left libtards.
