How can you just dismiss are chances? While the odds are never in a teams favor to win it all I still believe we have just as good of a chance as anyone other than Duke. If Irving is hurt I think we are one of the favorites.
I have said many, many times that if Pearl has to be fired, my first call would be to Bloomington, Indiana to see if there is some amount of money that could pry Crean away from there, and if he says no then proceed as need-be.
It is much too early in the season to even be thinking about that level of play for this team. We have had two great wins away from home, but the Oakland loss also shows us that we are certainly capable of losing to less than elite teams. I do not think we are in any way considered by any basketball folks as a favorite to win the national championship. Impossible---No!, but definitely not likely.
Every one was excited about the Pitt game and go on board with this team. They probably feel less sure about the team after the Oakland game. I agree that this team on it's best night can play with and beat anyone. The question is can we sustain that type of effort throughout the season and into the post-season/
Mooney's the only one I would have some question about on the recruiting trail. Marshall would kill it with facilities like UT's and Jankovich was such a good recruiter as an assistant to Self that I'm confident he'd do just fine.Do you think these type of guys could recruit the big name players Pearl has been able to get? I really have no idea other than Kruger who i think probably could since he has NBA experience, but he is 58.
How long did it take Bob Huggins to start getting elite players at Kansas State? How long did it take Mike Rice to get a Top 10 class to Rutgers? It's not near as hard as people would like to pretend.
For those in Memphis, I believe that Pearl is going to be on Parrish's show this afternoon sometime between 4-6 pm. Not sure if they will really broach the subject, but given the discussion yesterday, it might come up.
I wasn't being critical of your question. Just pointing out that you don't get McDonald's type guys at mid majors, unless of course they happen to be your son. I measure how guys recruit in relationship to their peer programs.I agree that coaches can recruit with out doing it before. I was just trying to find out if others thought these specific ones could since I have little info.
