Diamond Deshields officially to Tennessee

It appears we have the talent in place. Hopefully the coaches step up their coaching and the players step up their game in terms of effort, will, and dedication. Coaching without talent won't get you far. Talent without coaching doesn't get you far. Coaching without the EFFORT, WILL, and DEDICATION from talented players won't cut it these days either.

Imagine if Kaela Davis hadn't de-committed ...

Double D is a great get; had hoped she would commit following Te'a's announcement of last week. Who else do we get for '15? Do Kalani and Asia join this class?

If anyone else joins the class, it will be one or both of them, as they are the only two recruits TN is still after.

Honestly, with DD coming here, I think Durr removes us from her list.

I've heard chatter that Brown will likely end up at a Texas school, or LSU, but Tennessee is still after her.

Yeah, I think Durr will take harder looks elsewhere with DD's commitment. I still think Brown is a possibility but my guess is she ends up at TX A&M.

Gonna miss Izzy Harrison that year. Need a replacement!! to help Mercedes.

There are some boarders who are fearful of being optimistic - so they guess that "she" is going to go elsewhere, and then when "she" commits they can be positive, and if "she" doesn't nothing is risked.

The question for Durr or any recruit is playing time. The LVs will have depth in quality guards at both point and 2 in coming years. Attracting the second post is the only significant "weakness" two years out.

Quotes from Diamond:

"This is the place I've dreamt of since I was a little girl, just being here and playing here at Tennessee," DeShields said. "God sometimes has strange ways of working, and now I just feel like I am where I am supposed to be. I will give everything I have to make sure those dreams I had as a kid are fulfilled.

"This is not about me. It's about we. I'm here to help this program win games and win championships."

Tisha:

"Of course, I've always seen her being here at Tennessee," said Tisha DeShields. "It wasn't until she developed her craft and skill in basketball - it could have been tennis or a number of things - but I've always seen here her. Fortunately, it was basketball, and I just knew she was going to be a Lady Vol.

"I didn't want to force my agenda on her (when she made her original college choice), and I knew that was her decision and one she would have to be happy with. As a parent, I needed to support her, even though I joked with her that I was going to buy her orange briefs to wear underneath her uniform.

"Now, I just feel like she's in the right place. I feel like she's found her place, on The Summitt."

Congrats to you all and her, seemed more like premeditation rather than unhappiness, but it is what it is.

This is great news! If only we had Diamond this past season...she would have been the difference maker for this team. This more than makes up for the sting of having Kaela Davis decommit. I wish she was here for next season, but good things come to those who wait!

As another poster stated, I hope this attracts some strong posts who want to come over. It would be really nice if Stephanie Mvunga decided to transfer from UNC to play with her buddy Mercedes...
