They plan to have lots of football training sessions and camps on the outdoor field. Could be a great opportunity for teams to practice their (just the) tip drill.

If you've driven past West Town Mall in the past few weeks, you've probably seen the new (enormous) Dick's Sporting Goods that's where Sears used to be. They have a 40 foot rock climbing wall, a batting cage, three Trackman golf simulators, a health/wellness area, and an outdoor playing field with a two-lane track around it. The outdoor field is turf made of recycled ocean plastic.
They will host events like kids' sports camps, yoga classes, fitness training sessions, adult sports leagues, etc.
To call it impressive would be an understatement! I think it will be a really cool thing for the community, and I figured some of you local guys would appreciate it.

Sounds pretty cool. The Dicks out our mall is located next to the abandoned Sears. Would be nice if they expanded it into something like this.

Malls in general are going to have to do more to bring people in.

I mentioned that Kamara and Dobbs will be there on June 5th, but I just learned Rick Barnes will be there June 6th, as well. I think these will all be autograph/meet-and-greet opportunities.

I started a podcast for the House of Sport. It’s the first ever Dick’s Sporting Goods podcast, and it’s all about local sports in east TN.
I plan to have local experts on to talk about opportunities in the area. Everything from minor league pro sports, to youth sports, and even new ways for adults to participate in organized sports leagues.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of people to have on the show. Episode one was Tyler Ivens from The Sports Animal. Episode two will be on youth track, with KYA on the show as well as someone from D1 Sports.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

It’s available on Apple podcasts and Spotify, as well as here:

Sounds really cool, I suggest you start a new thread for this. Good luck.

I have two suggestions.

1. Condredge Holloway

2. I was on the University of Tennessee Faculty Club Swim Team growing up.
This is the guy in charge now.

Twice. Looking for a cooler first time then a spike ball game.
And you felt like it was just a store? You could have literally played an entire game of spike ball on the field before you bought it.

There was a football clinic with 90 kids last weekend, and a summer camp for kids all week this week. There’s a skills combine on the field right now with more events and advanced timing than most.
My kid did the camp this week and has raved about it like it was the most fun week of his life.

If that is just a store to you, I would love to know where else you shop. I’d like to come along next time!

I would listen to a podcast about the transition from rookie ball to a collegiate summer league in NE TN.
