Did CBJ take a worse job than CDD?

Absolutely. It's simple- Dooley didn't have to follow Dooley.... CBJ does. End of discussion.
The discussion is far from over. Dooley is now stuck in the hell known as Jerry Jones. The guy can't consistently draft or bring in free agents and they will be stuck in mediocrity no matter who the coach is as long as Jerry remains GM with his 16 year record of failure to prove it. CBJ at least has a chance to change his own destiny with player personnel.

Note: I am a Cowboys fan and as much as I dislike Dooley, I despise Jerry Jones more to an infinite power. I knew Dooley would eventually get fired. With Jerry Jones, there is no such hope!

(This has nothing to do with the Dallas Cowboys)

I'm wondering if the Doolander actually inherited a better sitaution than CBJ. Kiffin marched through Knoxville like Sherman through Atlanta, but - and this is a testament to the Doolander's incompetence - I'm wondering if CBJ inherited a worse situation.

I think Rivals has us ranked at 24th, which is 11th in the SEC. When you consider who is going pro this cycle, is the talent that far off Kiffin's worst ever recruiting class? Is this a function of where Captain Hygiene left the program or does this foreshadow another three year coaching tenure at Tennessee?

Plenty could still happen before the end of play tomorrow, and I've started to warm to CBJ (post Gruden euphoria). Are we worried about this, or did we just have to write-off Year Zero post-Dooley?

It is not even close. UT was an absolute dumpster fire when Dooley took over. People seriously underestimate just how bad it was.

Dooley left the program in much better shape than he found it. Don't let the deceptive win/lose record fool you.

I would never have believed that any Tennessee coach would come into a worse situation than post-Kiffin debacle with Hambone still in play.

But I think I'm beginning to believe CBJ has done just that.

200 million in debt... Half wits running the show.. CBJ has his work cut out for him here... His job would be a lot easier if they'd get rid of booger eater.. 200 million in debt is just ridiculous..

It's funny how all the people accusing so many of making excuses for Dooley are now making excuses for CBJ before he even starts. I wish there could be a discussion on this but you the ones with logic and the ones that have to throw out insults to try to prove their pts. So pointless to argue.

Like many said the upperclassman to lowerclassman situation is far better situation for CBJ. Someone said that Dooley inherited an NFL QB but he was a true freshman. Different than inheriting an OL full of experience and NFL talent. Even some nfl talent on the DL.

What people like to forget or maybe not understand was all the back office stuff that Dooley walked into. Drama of the players Kiffin brought in, Hamilton being on his last leg as AD and seeing how bad it has gotten, the NCAA was on campus...heck we got penalize 3 yrs later for what kiffins crew did, he had to finish building the new facilities that were already started and took the whole time he was here, etc etc. IMHO the guy did not have a fair shot at actually being only a HC. CBJ wont have to deal with an inkling of all the crap Dooley did. The players he brought in and are left are not as drama filled as what he had to try to deal with in the locker room.

Sooooo many differences and sooooo many issues he had to deal that CBJ doesnt. Oh yeah....he was getting pd 1.9 mil (up ther with KYs Phillips) and CBJ is getting pd 3 mil. So the clock is ticking on CBJ. He's on more level ground with the rest of the sec not way down below it.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha... cry me a river. 3 losing seasons in a row, losing to KY for the first time in almost 3 decades, losing to Vandy in Nashville for the first time since the ice age, missing bowl games back to back seasons etc etc. Not to mention ruining relationships with high school coaches all over the place.

Face it, your hero sucked.

Dools came into more talent, but lacked the depth. If Hunter and CP had stayed, I would say that CBJ came into a good situation. However, with those players leaving early, CBJ has his work cut out for him.

What's so funny about you and your ilk is that after 3 HORRIBLE years you argued Dooley had not had enough time. Yet here Jones has not even signed a class yet and you're talking about him as if he is a failure.
You, Ornageblazer, oldfartvol and the rest should start your own site and call it dooleynation.com so you can worship his sorry caoching ass all you want.
