You say you "know" some things. As a politician's assistant, were you in the room when Trump blabbed, or are you saying that the newspapers will pay anonymous sources for hearsay?
Politician's assistant is a role of an intern. I work as a staffer who actually contributes to the Senate Intelligence committee, I was not in the room but have seen the reports submitted to us by the WH. Huge difference in the clearance the two roles have.
I explained compensation in an earlier post, but happy to again:
Media sources will sometimes compensate for information. Not necessarily monetarily, but in other perks (maybe it's a legality issue, I know very little about whether or not a source can be paid). However, nobody gets a dime/dinner/car whatever until the story checks out. I'll say this too, 99% of the time an "Anonymous source" is actually multiple sources from different levels of organizations relaying the same information.
