I would consider it an insult too. However it is a much deeper insult to them, kind of like saying YO MOMMA in America.
hitting me with your shoe would be no different than hitting me with a paintbrush.

That is pretty much how I see it but apparently they dislike the soles of shoes. I think they have some secret shoe fetish they try to hide.

"I mean, who throws a shoe? Honestly!"

Good call.

What exactly was cool about seeing a foreigner throw shoes at the President of the United States?

I wouldn't call it cool, but rather bizarre and noteworthy. What difference does it make whether it was a foreigner or not throwing the shoes?

The bottom of the foot, or in this case the sole of the shoe, is considered to be dirty because of its contact with the ground when one is walking, standing up, etc. It is similar to flipping someone off here, showing the bottom of your foot or the sole of your shoe is an insult.

I think this is further evidence that Iraq's economy as well as the lives of Iraqis are getting better. Id doubt many of them would have had shoes to throw before the war.

^^that's a really good point!!

I think it's kind of scary to know that it took the secret agent people so long to get to him considering the guy threw his last shoe at Bush, by the time they were up. I know, I know the room was secure and everybody was checked for weapons...but still scary stuff.

I wonder if a mooning might be considered an invitation in Iraq.

Wish one of the shoes had hit him in the face. Both would have been even better.

Nice post, I guess you would also have liked it if this person was shot for being a security threat?

Look I understand some peoples dislike of the man but people like you hurt your cause. There is nothing wrong with disliking the man or his policy. There is however something very wrong about wishing for the man, (and this country) to be humiliated. You are a tool of the lowest common denominator!

Like the man or not, you have to look at what this stands for. It was extreme disrespect. Did you see the ppl rejoicing and treating this man as some sort of hero? Did you see them stomping and burning the American flag? This hatrid burns alot deeper than just George Bush. They hate America period. When I say "they" I am referring to the idiotic radicals that do this, not the good people of Iraq that truely want change. It literally makes me sick to my stomach that this guy is probabaly going to get charges dropped and be regarded as some sort of messiah hero. He should lose his job at the least. A good, easy movie to rent if you want to see how we are regarded in the middle east is "where in the world is osama bin laden" It is done by the same guy who did the "supersize me" movies. I am not one to just base my thoughts and feelings on one movie, but this movie did shed some truth on the state of their country and our relationships over there.

the TV station he works for was a mouthpiece for Saddam Hussein. the only people seeing this guy as a hero are the typical hate America first radicals who have fallen out of favor with a majority of Iraqis and the blame America first leftists in our own country.

My first response to this was......if they want us gone then let them have it their way. Let them deal with the bloodbath that occurs soon after. Then I realized who this mans paper represented and I realized that is exactly why they want us gone, so they can "punish" the sects they are at odds with.

IMO, if they dont have us to fight with the bloodbath might spill into other countries....and mainly US
