Think of all the money spent on the Iraq war start to finish..the lump sum amount. Now imagine that that sum had instead been spent on security measures for ports and borders. I wonder where we'd be now.

Probably a huge amount of money wasted and more government expansion our kids would be paying for years after we are gone. Pretty much the same position we are in now only the money we spent on our ports and borders would be wasted because we continue to tie the hands of the people doing the job there.

Who hasnt wanted to throw a shoe at Bush? I wish at the next press conference, the entire press corp would do the same. He's up there with the worst 2 term Presidents in history.

Yeah, think of the 18% of the budgetary spending (pre-bailout figure, btw) over the past 5 years that has been towards the effort in Iraq...

This line of thinking is completely asinine and shows a complete lack of understanding of fiscal impropriety that the US Government has practiced since "The Great Society".

Like the man or not, you have to look at what this stands for. It was extreme disrespect. Did you see the ppl rejoicing and treating this man as some sort of hero? Did you see them stomping and burning the American flag? This hatrid burns alot deeper than just George Bush. They hate America period. When I say "they" I am referring to the idiotic radicals that do this, not the good people of Iraq that truely want change. It literally makes me sick to my stomach that this guy is probabaly going to get charges dropped and be regarded as some sort of messiah hero. He should lose his job at the least. A good, easy movie to rent if you want to see how we are regarded in the middle east is "where in the world is osama bin laden" It is done by the same guy who did the "supersize me" movies. I am not one to just base my thoughts and feelings on one movie, but this movie did shed some truth on the state of their country and our relationships over there.
I'd consider the guy lucky if I got to meet the man who was one of the main factors in my country being torn apart and unsafe to live in for a few years and the only thing I did was throw a few shoes.

Iraq was torn apart and unsafe for many years before W's father ever set foot there. You can surely do better than that.

What do you mean? Saddam's regime was marked by peace, government largesse and personal freedom.

I realize Coca Cola filmed their "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" commercial there but if you look past that and the sleep overs Sadaam organized for the Kurds you start to get a better feel for the social climate there.

I thought you BPV would have been able to see past the ice cream parties he organized for his countrymen!

If this guy threw a shoe at Saddam he'd have been in the paper shredder along with this family.
