This isn’t a wild conspiracy theory. The upcoming test is posted on the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau website.

Only the President has the authority to activate EAS at the national level, and he has delegated that authority to the Director of FEMA. The test will be conducted jointly by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS).

In essence, the authority to seize control of all television and civilian communication has been asserted by the executive branch and handed to a government agency.

It has long been established that the airwaves are public property.

On what grounds was that established then? Are you cool the POTUS being the only one that has the authority to activate EAS at the national level. Another step toward the Monarchy this administration is trying to achieve. Forget the Legislative or Judicials branches , he doesn't need them.

LG does this not also conflict with freedom of speech in any way? I realize this seems harmless enough and well intentioned but ever heard of the Fairness Doctrine and it's ilk. Don't completly bury your head in the sand and slowly hand over all your liberties, my friend.

Im sorry , i meant freedom of speech , was in another thread posting too.not second amendment. Do you not feel like this treads on freedom of speech that the POTUS alone controls the Airwaves?

LG, If you concede this point and are fine with the POTUS(KING in this case) having control over the Airwaves how did you feel about Bushs' Patriot Act. I admit i was in favor of it at first , but realized , although it well intention, it stripped away my/our freedoms and now i see it for what it is, a power grab.

One event should not necessarily change sound policy, that is reacting with emotion not with your head.

LG doesn't care much about freedom. This has long been established. His philosophy seems to be security > freedom.

Isn't the EAS that thing that gets tested for about 30 seconds once a month anyway? If the buzzing bothers you that bad, walk away from the TV or radio for a while.

Actually , federal authorities are going to shut off all television and radio communications simultaneously at 2:00PM EST to complete the first ever test of the national Emergency Alert System (EAS). The POTUS is the only one that has the authority to do this,btw. this is different than the buzzing.

There is nothing in this Presidents history to suggest he would circumvent the system and would like to pass legislation on his own is there, or interested in a power grab is there? this took me about 5 minutes to research, want some more examples?
