Die on the Chick-Fil-A Hill?

There was a Smoky Mountain Market out Chapman Hwy when I was at U.T. 50 years ago. My roommate was drunk one night, and he kept saying he wanted to go to the "Smoky Market Mountainway." From that moment on, we referred to it as the Smoky Market Mountainway."
The one on Chapman Highway I remember, loved their hotdogs.

I can count on one hand how many times I've eaten a Chick-Fil-A product. It's okay, but nothing I would go out and buy unless I just happened to be really hungry and there was one next to me without 12000 people in line. I really don't get the appeal of their food, on the other hand I really don't get the appeal to most fast food or Applebee's type places either.

They will move those 12,000 people in line in 5 minutes. I eat there often. They have the best customer service in the business. They are the leaders in efficiency. Their training program is the envy of any business that hires kids. They are an impressive outfit.

This.

I have always wanted to get a platter pf 50 nuggets for a football game with my son. The 2 of us together just weigh a bit over 300lbs..im 175 and he might be 150 at 17 years old. I am certain i could eat my 25 without a sweat and have fries too, though i dont really like the waffle fries. I dont dislike them, and i eat them, but mickey Ds has way way better fries, best on earth IMO. Fries are the only thing on McDs menu that are actually the best of what they are. The seasoning CFA puts in their chicken is just delicious..have no idea what it is though. Has a very unique subtle flavor. Anyone here who eats there could identify if a sammich or nuggets came from there in a blind taste test...

I read once that they used to marinate the chicken in pickle juice to give it that distinctive taste and juiciness. That was back in the days when they were in the mall food courts. I don’t think they use it anymore.

When someone younger than 60+ says he or she quitting "to spend more time with their families," do you automatically accept that as truth or nah?

If there's nothing else going on (eg. accused of something) then yes. It's not like she went public with this; she told her faculty in person at a meeting.

Also she's staying on until September (presumably for them to find an interim and conduct a search). In you "spend more time with their families" the person is typically gone

Yeah. Chick-fil-A might be the only place, and certainly the only restaurant, where I'm never deterred by how crowded it is. It doesn't matter how long the line is; you won't wait long.

It is a well run organization. I wonder how fast it would be if it was government owned and staffed by all government employees.

There is a thread for him over in the pub that I think he would really enjoy.
Hell, I'm just interested to know how the people on the other side of the tracks and up on the hill live. I get the impression that anything less than Grey Poupon and a Chilean wine grouped with his chicken sandwich is unacceptable.

It's certainly an interesting business model. I'd tend to think most fast food restaurants would think them crazy for not opening on Sunday, but they make up for it the other six days.

Now, of only the one close to my office would hurry up with its renovation...

Truett Cathy said once that yes, part of the reason they are closed on Sunday are their Christian beliefs, but they're also closed on Sunday because he always hated working Sundays himself and believed they make up for it throughout the week anyway. People love Chick-fil-A so much though that if they were open on Sunday, I'm sure they'd make more money.

Aside from the food just being really good, a couple other things CFA does that most other fast food joints don't do is 1) have a really simple menu and 2) have an army of people working. Most fast food places try and cut costs by not doing #2, but a lot of them also aren't doing #1, which you'd think increases costs.
