Dijonai Carrington obliterated for brutal assault on Caitlin

It’s a good product, IMO. I think some of the highlights of Clark being knocked down are being used to push a narrative, when in reality it’s a very physical league (partially because there aren’t many spots and competition is fierce)
Watch 10 to 20 minutes replays showing important plays.
That's the highlights videos was talking about.
There are some who post videos of games when there's no click bait.

Those saying there is niothing to it, especially since Clarck said it wasnt intentional, need to think how they would feel if it had been their star player getting hit like that. Can you imagine if Knecht got popped like that, or (for some others) iClayton Jr.

Here is my thing... if WNBA players want to be taken seriously.. some stuff has to change. Why are people running around the court playing basketball with fake nails and lashes and 3 pounds of weave? All of those 3 things are serious safety risks. Not only that there is no way you are about to womansplain to me that outside of safety those things don't flat out make you play worse. next thing folks are gonna be out there in 4 inch platforms swearing they make them faster.

This stuff is ridiculous. Someone claimed that a fan making fun of Carrington's lashes was racist (note I'm a black man saying this).. how is that racist on any level? They need to stop asking Sheryl Swopes the rules on life. Long nails long lashes, weave/extensions are ratchet. Women of all races wear all 3 regularly. None of that crap belongs on a basketball court and there is no planet where that was not a purposeful eye poke. They even celebrated and joked about it right after. This is getting disgusting.

Pretty sure I wouldn’t equate an unintentional act during a basketball game with a “brutal assault”, whether it’s my guy or not.

Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart, A’ja have all been popped like that

As the say, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

I think this controversy has been good for the WNBA and has probably only added to the attendance and ratings numbers.

We watched.

CC herself said it wasn’t intentional.

The same contempt some of you hold for these WNBA players for ”brutally assaulting” CC is the same contempt CC holds for those same fans making her out to be some racial/political martyr.
Of course CC is going to say not intentional, she'd risk a fine and even more retribution.
It was not brutal, and I can't say that CC doesn't deserve what she's been dishing out, but right now she is the golden goose for the WNBA, and she could probably start a right wing podcast dishing on the WNBA and make more money.

She’s already being used by right wing podcasts who dish on the WNBA, and she’s spoken out against those people for using her as a political pawn.

5:00 mark in this video death threaths to Caitlin Clark.
She Hired her own personal security
Fan in video with media rights.
Said "hopes she falls and breaks her neck call Caitlin the C word"
That guy should lose his media rights to games if true.

Carrington was on the receiving end of racial slurs and some rather graphic death threats, over an unintentional act that’s been blown out of proportion.

Oh wise one, tell us what she got away with in college.
It's an ongoing problem all the haters have. She won't feed them. It feels like the only team in the WNBA that has had media training is the Fever. there area few things going on here

1. They are not used to having eyes on them. Up until now all the WNBA have had as fans have basically been family and friends. It sounds crazy but their fanbase has been super tight and close. Because there was no coverage there was little to no negative blowback. A player could stink it up and nothing happens. Next game reset. In the past 5 or so years the only coverage of the WNBA the general public has had access to was in regards to the pay scale gap arguments and blooper reels. People didn't realize those blooper reels were not handpicked they were coming from random snippets from single games. When people were calling out Angel Reese for stat padding and being a terrible shooter most of the WNBA was like huh? that's normal.... missing 3-4 layups standing under the basket by one player in one possession that happens every game.

2. Professionalism is not something that's a big idea in general in the WNBA and its not really the players fault. Its really hard to put all kinds of crazy limitations on these players when in most cases the WNBA isn't even their main source of income. Average salary in the league is barely over 100k. these are the contracts the 2023 draft picks signed

Round Picks Years Total value
1 1-4 4 $338,056
1 5-8 4 $324,383
1 9-12 4 $310,718
2 13-24 4 $297,045
3 25-36 4 $276,830

Its hard to tell someone making that kinda money how they can dress.

3. The WNBA season is dumb.... it lasts 4 months.. that's fine...but.. lets say you're a college player on a good team in the tourney.. you make it to the finals this year the final game was on April 7.. the draft was on the 15th. training camp was on the 28th.. may 14th the regular season starts. World cup/Olympics is every 2 years in August. most of these ladies make the majority of their income playing OUTSIDE the WNBA. Britney Griner was in jail in Russia because she makes 4-5 times what she makes in the WNBA overseas in the offseason September-Mayish. These ladies grind hard there is almost no downtime between anything, especially in Olympic/cup years.

4. They have no concept of what fans are like. The worst hate these players get is like 1/10th of that the guy at the need of the bench for the Celtics gets. They are flat not used to it. Someone called me a mean name... sent pictures of my family or me in compromising positions with a goat. Dude Men's athletes are dealing with this stuff in high school.

I am not saying how fans are is right....I think it should change but... there is a reason the big boys get paid what they get paid and why with some exceptions 90% of them stay the heck out of the public eye and away from social media. The KD's of the world are the exception to the rule for a star in men's pro sports. you don't know anything about 90% of the players in the NBA off the court unless they end up in court. There is a reason. If you want to move to the next level you have to get over your feelings... you want that money then realize that its shut up and dribble money. If you go out and dribble really really well then you get a say. No one cares how you feel until then. Sheryl Swoopes was hating on CC all year saying she wasn't dominant.

In her whole career she has 1 season even comparable statistically to CC's rookie year. 2000 when she was DPOY, MVP, All-Star, WNBA first team. You put their stats against one another and in CC's first year she was a better player then Swopes ANY year and Swoopes is in the GOAT conversation.

5. I think this whole thing got off track because people tried to make the Magic Bird tie in.... because of race. I think that is disrespectful to both CC and Magic. Reese is no ones Magic. She is not even the best player her team drafted this year. Reese was drafted 7th by Chicago.... Cardoso was drafted 3rd... had she not been injured early I have a feeling this whole rebound crap never happens. The hype got behind her and it got out of control and the whole team was in on getting her double-doubles. Watch games it was crazy.... funny story to track how many double-doubles she had and then look at how many of those games they WON. When CC was showing out it was playing winning basketball. CC is the Jordan of the WNBA. People were so stuck on forcing the Bird/Magic comparison in a time where that could only go sideways. They tried to make a rivalry when only one side of the rivalry was interested or initiating any of it.

Think about it like this from college till now..CC has never gone for the bait. She always takes the high road even when she does slip in a jab most people don't notice because she is so smart about it. I honestly think that's why they hate so hard. She does not clap back she drains 3's and tosses dimes. She reminds me of Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice. Humble off the court/field cutthroat on it.

As a player who rightfully was called "dirty" at times, that really looks intentional to me, she takes a quick glance at CC's face rather than track the ball before her follow through with a "cupped" hand.....she knew what she was doing, maybe not aiming for the eye but definitely a face scratch.

The celebration after shuts it all down. I cant find the darn clip but its crazy Mabrey come up to Carrington and acts like shes poking her in the eye// same hand motion and they both laugh about it. She knew what she did and no one with eyes sees that clip and things it was a mistake also I have never seen Carrington nails that long in a game before. In most pictures and games before that she had regular length nails (longer that you'd expect for someone playing basketball but passable). In that game she had some full out press ons.

She doesn't complain about having to hire personal security.
WNBA needs to protect Caitlin Clark like the NBA did for Shaquille O'Neal . Need rules for when players knot players to ground non basketball play. Like when Caitlin Clark get bump down in blow out win. Minutes to go.

I didn't think that foul was intentional and I don't know why they picked it out. There are 5 or 6 other obvious intentional fouls where players should have been fined. If it was any other sport her teammates would have had her back and a brawl would have started. Her teammates did nothing. What a league!

Indiana needs to put one of USA female rugby players on roster with her being paid by the foul

Same reason why UT fans rejoiced when your guy knocked out Joakim Noah’s teeth with a flying elbow.

Sometimes, fans can be a-holes.

Why is a face scratch being called a “brutal assault”?

Caitlin coming out and complaining about the rough play.
Other players wouldn't have taking it this long.
Seen videos calling out Caitlin teammates.

Always has to be racial doesn’t it. Do you understand how petty and small it makes anyone look who blames all their shortcomings on racism.
