I think I remember something being said that there was some issues that he had with Heuple’s departure from UCF.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading something about that earlier this year.

That’s the only reason I posted this because Gabriel is one of the few transfers who I feel would contribute more value to the team next season than Nico. I’m probably in the minority though.

Don't understand why he's entering the portal. He was the starting QB at Oklahoma, was he not? Only thing I can think of is that he's planning to follow Jeff Lebby to Miss State.

Tennessee isn’t getting a QB from the portal unless he’s decided he’d like to sit and learn how to be a coach as a backup. Good luck finding that in the portal.

first, i don't think he's coming here. i also don't think DG is scared of a freshman with no experience. DG would beat him out in a qb competition right now. There aren't many qbs in the country that would get in front of Gabriel. I'm not sure about the not wanting to come back to Heupel part...

I think we should look for a QB who has 1 year left and are ok competing for a job and don't want something promise. The QB should probably want to get into coaching and would be auditioning for a spot as a GA for the following year

This if we hypothetically took Gabriel I think Nico leaves. I don't think the staff even pursues a QB like Gabriel unless they have 100% confidence that Merk would be the man in 2025.

You believe any elite qb is coming in via portal to be part of a qb competition?

Not about being “scared” or anything else. It’s about choosing the best situation.
