Bruh. That song was on Alabama’s album entitled The Closer you Get, released in 1983.

I dimly recall seeing them on Hee Haw - which is the foundation of all my musical knowledge along with the United Methodist Hymnal.

They played at ”The Brewery” on the strip the night before a UT-Alabama game - before they made it big, of course

They deserved it.....
Yea they did. I live amongst the gumps. Never understood them using that song. A Dub should secure it where it belongs.

Went to the God awful dolla sto today....not a single gump in sight, they're hiding. It's nice to have things in place. We owned bama when I was a kid.

But..... when you're a gump you attach what you like to who sang it....

In this case the band name

But they're too d*** dumb to even listen to the first line of lyrics.....

"Rollin' down a backwoods, Tennessee byway"

Gumps are so f******* stupid they've adopted a song about gettin' laid in TN as their song.....

This post is so wrong but 100% true at the same time

Carry on. I just dislike the Rucker version and resent the fact that it’s the one that made it big. Much prefer the old crow version.

I get it. Critter said, "I'm waiting for the time we get off stage and a fan says, 'I love how you played that Darius Rucker song!' 😂

Kind of like when kids thought GnR wrote "Knockin On Heaven's Door" 🤣

I think I stopped listening to country after 1998. I pretty much listen to country prior to late 90s.

That's sad. Some folks don't realize that, like everything else, music evolves over time. It's subject to influences from external social contacts, new social events and experiences of people, as well as individual innovations of its artists. That's why we have songs that are laments, joyous, whimsical, and what have you. Every music genre experiences this, and always will. Because music reflects life as people experience it. Consequently, music is one of the forms folks use to share those experience with others. Music is so fluid that it can't stagnate or freeze in time. Life won't let it. Folks who wish it somehow wouldn't evolve are in for greater shocks. Already, some artists are talking about teaming up with artificial intelligence robots to generate music. Elon Musk and other innovators are encouraging it. Bobby was right:

Come gather 'round people, wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone

For the times, they are a-changin

No, it's not sad. It heard the recent music and I reject it. I don't like hip hop country. Nothing sad about it.

50% of bammers got on board when Saban was hired. They'll jump off when he retires and they end up middle pack

Yes perfect with Dixie Land Delight, it was played at end of third as well, crowd sang along, ... it was all set up early in the game when they had the group "Alabama" on the jumbotron singing Rocky Top. Salt in the wound i said at that time... too sweet.

Yeah country is either people not country at all going over the top to sound country, or people not even being country getting all the attention like Swift. Plus if I wanted to be depressed all the time, get drunk and do something stupid, or watch my little girl grow up and move off, etc, well I guess I’d listen to more country. If I do listen to country it’s for damn sure not this era, not the one we’re that ugly woman can make it big singing “all I want to do ew ew ew ew ew, ew ew ew ew ew...” on repeat all song. If I were a country music fan I’d of felt ashamed I was lumped into that crowd. My mom loved that band, maybe still does, but I told her the same thing. It’s hard for me to take someone serious when that’s the kind of nonsense that you rock out too.

Well they’d have to come to TN to get laid outside their kin.

Why yes it is. But Dixieland Delight is about Tennessee! Hammers are too stupid to realize that though! 😆

It's funny, Georgia sort of does something similar. I always just chuckle when I hear them firing up "Glory, Glory" because they seem to forget about Sherman marching through their state and razing it to the ground during the Civil War. Alabama, Georgia, and Florida have odd and annoying fan bases.
