D'Montre Edwards not on JUCO AA

He didn't put up crazy numbers and I dont expect him to here, but he is solid IMO and a good defender.

The comparison I keep making is cam tatum without as many WTF plays. Solid all the way around and can do it all good, but nothing great.

I just had a WTF moment. I was trying to find Chris Jones on that list and realized I was looking for Chipper Jones lol.

Either way, maaan. Those two guards are solid. Also, the kid from down the road at Cleveland State.

Nick Ross is a good player. I'm not sure he's SEC good though.

What worries you?

He walked into a bad situation and recruiting usually is 2 years ahead with most recruits. Meaning when CCM came here, 11&12 recruits already had a list in mind and had their favorites. The 2013 class has always been the first class CCM will actually have a fair chance at. And looking at the guys that have us listed in their top schools I'm not the least bit worried about CCMs ability to recruit.

Don't be fooled by the washpun, miller, Reese signings those aren't the type of guys that will be regulars here. They simply were the best CCM could get at the time because of the situation. As I said look at our targets for the 2013 class, they look much better than what we've seen recently.

I dont want any of our future players or players now to be on the Alcohol Awareness... Proud of Edwards for staying away from the alcohol

If the kid can shoot better than any of our guards did then I'll sign him happily.

My Freshman year Tatum was actually pretty fun to watch play... Used to be my favorite guy on the floor.

Yea I'm referring more to tatum this last year though.

I expect Edwards to play well in all aspects, but not stand out really in any, just a solid all around player. Probably a 8ppg 6rbd 3ast 1stl 1bl type guy that can hit the 3, and will play good sound D. Also, a player with game experience who should be mature and a possible leader.

I figured you were. Just was having a nostalgic moment. Haha.

I'd be okay with anyone being able to hit 4-5 mid range jumpers for me. We just need some sort of midrange offense next year for us to see the success in feeding the post like we are predicting.

I totally understand what you're saying, but I'm also a little worried. I know we haven't seen the full scope of it yet, but even taking everything into consideration, I'm a little disappointed with recruiting.

I know the 2013 class is going to be significant, but until letters are signed, I will be a bit worried. However, if we pull together a decent class, it won't be surprising.

I'm really starting to think that the way we play this coming season will have a noticeable impact on recruiting.

last season has more impact, because the 2013 kids will be signed before TN plays again. Last year's performance should have opened a few eyes about Martin's coaching, and made apparent that there is plenty of playing time available. Got to get at least 3 guys who can step in and play at a high level right away in the 2013 class.

Not everyone signs early, actually it around 1/2 iirc. We could be sitting here this time next year waiting on king, jw3 and a few others decisions. Also could have a few locked up as well.

And that's fair, you can recruit who you want but until they sign doesn't mean much. Maybe I'm putting too much stock into how many schools have us in their top 3 of 5.

I don't think he walked into that bad of a situation....the talent level wasn't great but wasn't as bad as some make it sound. I really expected a little better second class...All wil be forgiven though if he brings in a great class in 2013 but he still has to prove it.

His second class, this 2012 class, shouldn't have been expected to be much. As I said earlier, recruiting is usually established atleast 2 years ahead of time.

When ccm came here almost all 2011 kids had their most, and most 2012 kids had their list. It's hard for CCM to walk in and start fresh with a lot of these guys, so he targeted 2013.

2013 will be the first level playing field for CCM at Tennessee. Hell have been recruiting these guys just about as long as most schools, and has had the chance to establish relationships. If the 2013 class doesn't bring in some top talent THEN I'll start to worry. These first 2 classes though were what should have been realistically expected though.

I disagree bc I have seen several other coaches have better classes in their second year. It's not like football where you have to establish a relationships with 20 plus guys.....he just had to convince three guys..... A recruiting guy was on sports talk today and you could tell he was struggling to say good things about our class...it may be bc he is a young coach getting established and 2013 he will nail down a top class but until then I will be worried about if he can bring in the talent needed to compete.

Who?

CCM isn't cream or calipari?

Also, remember he came from Missouri state to Tennessee, he's recruiting different level guys. If you say frank haith, calipari, crean, frank Martin....many of the guys they were recruiting previously you still can recruit at your new school. CCM didnt have the same luxury of already being in on top level guys.

Who has come from a mid major to a high major, under the NCAA scrutiny UT was, and had a better recruiting class in their 2nd year?

We did not get any real penalties from the ncaa so that should not have any affect on his recruiting.....I wasn't expecting a top 5 or even top 20......but its not even a mediocre class......Really don't want to start that conversion but our previous coach would be one example.
