Do Grads of other Tenn. Colleges Root for the Vols?

I find that MOST people that went to other in-state schools like ETSU, AP, MTSU, etc. were Vol fans BEFPORE going to those schools.
They are kind of like "dual citizenship" people...Vol fans but also pull for their alma mater too.

That said, I've never met anyone that went to a 'major' college (Vandy and lumping Memphis in here too) and is a Vols fan.

I assume people connected with Division 1-A programs like Memphis and Vanderbilt don’t. Just curious if grads of other schools that are not Division 1-A in football like Belmont, ETSU, MTSU, UT South, UT Martin, Austin Peay, etc. root for and attend Vols games? Are they welcomed by Vols fans even though they have connections to other schools?
UTC Grad…. I would say that UTC has a mixed fan base and the school at least when I went there did not do a lot to promote the connection with Knoxville. In fact, I remember one of my professors stating that school color day was coming and it’s not orange and white…. Which is true, but still 😂.

But my degree does say University of Tennessee but specifies Chattanooga.

Go MOCS. At least in my friend group not 1 person went to a UTC game of any kind, I never did. I like Terrell Owens as an alumni there lol, went to wv&utk afterwards. I have 0 pride in utc athletics, ill wear utc hat at the vol game when they play lol

I would imagine that UT is the most popular athletics program on every campus (MTSU included) in the state save for Memphis and Vandy (the latter mostly due to the number of OOS students, not Vandy's popularity).

I am a TTU grad and root for all TN schools - except MTSU our sworn enemy. It's not the same anymore since MTSU went 1A. I am a UTK season ticket holder - the last of the grandfathered tix. Lost that status 2 years ago.

My granddaughter is a recent Chatt grad and goes to UTK games.

Grew up in Morristown a Vol fan, attended CNC (which won two NAIA Championships while I was there) and then UT Memphis. So never attended UTK but have a degree from the University System. Nevertheless, “Rocky Top, you’ll always be home sweet home to me.”
Whats cnc? Christopher Newport college??

I graduated from UTC and then ETSU but have been a vol fans since I was 6 or 7. And yes, my UTC degree is a UT degree

I also graduated from Chattanooga State AKA UCLA (University of Chattanooga Left off Amnicola hwy)
I did the same thing. I liked Chatt State. Got my GPA at a good level, had fun there, and then transferred and finished up at UTC. Had a great time there to. And I was surprised when I got my degree and it said UT on it. I was expecting UTC.

I would say those on the Eastern and Central parts of the state plus UT Martin do. UTC, ETSU, MTSU grads I know are all Vols. Memphis and Vandy are the only other big schools that have their own primary fans and are vehemently anti Vols.

I'm a UTC grad and have loved the Vols since day 1. When UTC plays UTK, I wear both gear and usually expect the Mocs to get whipped.
Agree, had no problem being a fan of both as UTC was in the Southern Conf. when I was there and there was no sports conflict between the 2. Went to Vol home games all the time.

I went to ETSU but always remained faithful to UT football. Basketball was another matter, when I was there ETSU was a perennial Top 25 and routinely spanked the Vols as I recall. Also was friendly with some of the players so they earned my support.

I believe the correct vernacular is "East and Middle" Tennessee. Non-natives say Eastern and and Central.
