I'm seeing a lot of threads being quite critical of Dobbs. Those should really stop.

Let's face it - Vandy had a gameplan to confuse our true Frosh QB, and we didn't have a gameplan to get him comfortable and playing within himself.

That's it, period. Dobbs is a true frosh QB whose coaches didn't put him in a position to win. His confidence should have been higher than ever after two weeks of practice as the guy, and the coaches opted to make him as scared as they were.

PS - We shouldn't have hated on Worley either.

Huh??

Dobbs hasn't thrown a TD in 14 quarters of football. I can't wait to never see him on the field for UT ever again.

I understand the true freshman thing...... but c'mon man. He's really really bad.

Fans are going to be critical of QBs who throw more picks than TDs. Always.

If they don't want to be criticized, they should protect the ball.

Dobbs had a weak 1st half. He was essentially turned into a single-wing tailback for the 2nd half with the "option" to pass taken out of his hands.

Dobbs needs to be evaluated big time! He said after the game he started clicking with the WR's in the 2nd half! He thought he played good. plus he shaves his eye brows ...sorry but he needs to be evaluated! (in 14 quarters of football he is by far the worse QB in UT history so far)

He's looked terrible. He threw balls in the dirt and his downfield passes fluttered like a wounded duck. He finished with like 50 yards passing.

The coaches "opted" to make him scared?

He's not ready to play quarterback in the SEC. Not many are. Ideally he should have redshirted.

I don't "hate" him. I hope he does well in whatever field he chooses. I also hope he's never behind center again. The Dobbs experiment is over. It was a nice try but freshman or not, it's time to either put Pig Howard in the single wing or...play a quarterback in the quarterback position.

Outside of Dobbs' legs, he's done jack to prove he's an SEC caliber QB. He averages 1 INT to every 100 yards passing he has. Let that sink in for a second, before you come and tell us that being critical on a QB is unwarranted.

Dobbs has a long career ahead. Just because he's struggled at a true freshman doesn't mean he can never be any good. He's been forced to play because of injury not by choice.

Question: With our main QB injured.... This Freshman QB coming in.... who's left behind him? We've only got one game left and we need all the help we can get.

What's good Eric? Long time no talk.

On the other extreme, it also doesn't mean Dobbs should give up football, just because he has struggled as a true freshman, in a year where the team has no experienced wide receivers to speak of.

Well said Freak.

Some fans seem to forget or ignore the coaches saying neither one of the freshman quarterbacks was ready to play just a couple of weeks before Dobbs was forced to play due to injuries.

Just trying to get through another season man, painful as it may be.

I didn't say he should give up football, just that he's not a SEC caliber QB. Given his skill set, he should have went to true option school. He might kill it at Georgia Tech.

I think Peterman could play. That's about it. Not going to burn Ferguson's redshirt for one meaningless game.

I didn't mean to imply you said it. Some others have said he should never see the field again.

He's not an SEC caliber quarterback, so far. I think he could be at some point. Why not?

The QB gets all the glory when we win. It's only fair that he gets the lions share of criticism when we lose.

One other thing all should consider was the fact that Dobbs was the 4th string QB when the season started.

What throws has he made in the previous 4 weeks, that make you believe he could? He couldn't even complete a simple 10 yard out route without throwing it behind his WR, and into the capable hands of Vandy's defense. Most QB's get better as time goes on, yet Dobbs couldn't muster 100 passing yards against Vandy at home. We had 53 yards passing last night. Even Rick Clausen was better than that.

Haven't read the thread, but it appears to me that the coaches were HOPING that we could beat Vandy without using Dobbs to his fullest. They are scared to death of losing him too. We have one more QB on the bench. I believe this is why they are being conservative. I don't agree with it but that is my Opine.
